  1. I would swap the flexplate from your current engine, unless someone here can for sure say it's a direct swap. Even though it is a GM block, the AMC electronics are probably different.
  2. On the note of measurements.. and not really wanting to get dirty and crawl under my MJ today. Can anyone confirm rear, hub to flare measurement for MJ. My MJ is 2WD, and the springs are maybe sagged some? But, from what I gather is that Metric ton springs net about 1.5-2" on a 2wd. Which leads me to believe that the 19.5 or whatever measurements are for 4WD vehicles. I understand that the longer shackles I install on my MJ yesterday will not give me the advertised height change due to the leaf design.
  3. Thanks! Got some "free to me" longer shackles installed on my MJ. Thanks to the help of my friend Zac, and I gave him my stock MJ shackles. Once again, I didn't measure but figure a quick search or if someone knows what "stock-ish" height is supposed to be from hub to flare. Anyways, there is a noticeable difference. https://goo.gl/photos/NqYRHh6u3cvQRX7n7 https://goo.gl/photos/xUuyzfPb2MUKgc6j6
  4. The company has been around as long as I can remember. Good quality. I have never installed one in a Jeep though.
  5. My MJ took me for a DW ride, until I swapped in my HD tie rod.
  6. Wish I still had the Coil conversion adapter that I had from the YJ axles I bought a while back. I still have the links though.. And track bars. But, I would either bring it back to stock height or get lift leafs and legit shackles.
  7. Not sure about pre-87, but 87-up, FP is mounted on the side.. No dropping of tank necessary. As much as I do not want an L4, you are better off than the POS GM 2.8.
  8. My parts 87 XJ, that my 3/4 cluster came out of has the nylon clip. Although, not sure if there was a changeover during that year or whatever.
  9. I have a 3/4 cluster available, All gauges except tach, if you are interested.
  10. I have a 3/4 cluster available, for the right price. 87-90, are plug n pray. 86-down will work with the correct speedo cable, and those are 4-cyl/6-cyl specific.
  11. Some parts stores sell a couple different size universal ones. The larger one cones with a bracket. I have a later model stock tank in the factory location, turtle tank bracket removed, of course.
  12. Parts truck grille is upside down..
  13. Honestly, after the different lift setups I have had on XJ/MJ etc. I will do at least one set of adjustable control arms. That clevis and shims for the lower is a PITA and annoying. I picked up my RK adjustable UCA's for 153$ fro ma Vendor on Jeepforum. Installed them on my MJ when I lifted it yesterday. I have not checked caster yet, and adjusted them slightly longer than the stock UCA's and they fit right on. I knew I wouldn't be able to swing adjustable lowers right away, but that is on the list too. My MJ is 2WD currently so Pinion angle is not an issue for me yet either. And, as others have said move/rotate tires etc. to eliminate the possible issue.
  14. Got the front of my MJ lifted this weekend. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EmWWNkzXVFpPVsvhyHtrt83s1H9XU1m8Ag/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sIMZOejpCC5o1q6RyPBXzD6JV09U-CiJXQ/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-e8jy-z8mNeKPrRJkE37x_ck-Pm_FDrCNw/view?usp=sharing RE XJ coils (PN unknown), that have been cut down some. Synergy Suspension track bar mount and brace/Unknown adjustable TB with FK heim/Synergy mis spacers. RK adjustable UCA/Stock LCA for meow. My old IM4x4Fab tie rod JKUR Shocks/homebrew BPE's Straightened out the hard brake line for more travel. Will be install some SS braided lines when they arrive. I initially kept the stock tie rod, but it it ended up being in bad shape. Had the craziest DW I have ever personally experienced. Every time I would come back home and check toe after a test drive it was off. I made sure that the adjusters were tight, but I should have just gone with my instinct to swap my HD tie rod to begin with. Anyways, after it is all said and done, it drives good now. Just like on my XJ, the front end feels more solid with the aftermarket TB mount/brace. The coil are on the stiffer side too, which is fine by me.
  15. Central Coast of California.
  16. For many years, the best plug n pray system for XJ/MJ has been the Currie setup. Synergy mfg. now makes an awesome stock style steering setup. One of the things that makes this kit better than Currie, is that the knuckle side drag link TRE is replaceable.
  17. PAC coils are progressive and nice. Consider also using limit straps, if you are not already. The "unloading issue" you are having is more common with radium arms than other setups. But, it can be avoided by not letting the weight of the vehicle transfer too far from the axle. Running a suck-down winch, or a center mounted limit strap will help offset this.
  18. Oh well, I guess I'll be making a bastard pack soon after I get my spare set of MJ leafs. Thank you all for your help.
  19. I would like some lift. My truck is 2wd, so I figured hd or metric ton leafs would net a couple inches. Hell creek springs would be nice, but not in my budget. I figured that if crown replacement leafs are legit. And add a slightly longer shackle, it would be an inexpensive way to freshen up the rear. On the JCW site when I input jeep comanche info the 3 different numbers popped up. The ones that I believe are metric ton replacement are 98 each with free ship on amazon. I do have a full set of JKU Rubi shocks that should work for now.
  20. If you can fab, and the c8.25 has the gears you want. Run that. Otherwise gear the 44 and maybe swap to discs or whatever.
  21. Found these on JCW in some searching for rear leafs. http://www.jcwhitney.com/crown-automotive-jeep-leaf-springs/p2005969.jcwx?filterid=d1169y1988g2j1 Any body know if these are correct for an MJ? I know that people will say, "you get what you pay for" and "go with something better quality", etc. If I had the money money for Hell Creek leafs, I would do that. But I do not. Hopefully picking up an additional set of MJ leafs to "build my own" set. But if these crown ones are legit, I'd consider buying a set. Amazon has them for cheaper than JCW, so I will most likely go that route if I do end up buying a set. Also, saw that Rusty's makes a set of 4" lift MJ leafs. From what I gather Other than their Coil springs, their quality/CS isn't great. Seems like a reasonable deal if they are solid though. Constructive criticism and comments are welcome. Thanks in advance.
  22. Got my RK adjustable UCA's today. These things look very beefy. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5GWNl5w3W72T0lPLTFONFhoSmxZR3FXeDRXOFFxZFdwbUJB/view?usp=sharing Think that I will run the custom square tube lowers as it for meow, along with these. And maybe pick up some ruffstuff square tube inserts and some joints to go with them.
  23. Looks neat! How well would this fit a 230lb 6'2" person?
  24. JK Rubi shocks will work in the front. And possibly for the rear. Can usually be had for relatively inexpensive. That is what I will be running for meow.
  25. If you want to see pics of my MJ with the 265/70R17 on JK wheels at stock height, go to my build thread if you have not already. Mind you, my front fenders are trimmed. But the rear tucks nicely. My adj UCA's will be here sometime this week, so hopefully this weekend I can toss a lift on the front. I have a few different sets of coils to choose from. But since I might get a set of JKS ACOS, I think I will just put my V8 ZJ Upcountry coils in for meow.
