  1. Damn. Mercury freezes at -37.89 °F and you're not far from that. You'll need an alcohol thermometer if it gets any colder. Brrrrrr-
  2. Must be. Never seen it happen using the defroster though. You must have a good one.
  3. It's a 3-wire socket replacing another 3-wire socket; it will be fine electrically. The problem will likely be the twist-to-lock tabs lining up on the MJ lamp housings. I have a bunch of 3157 (I think - the bulbs look the same) sockets in a box somewhere I pulled off an old Mercedes I junked years ago. Will check it out later today. Interesting idea Fred.
  4. Great mod using the 97 modular pump. Will the float arm be fairly accurate in the MJ tank?
  5. How did the windshield crack from the cold? I don't think I've ever heard of that unless you pour hot water on it or heat it up with a torch or something.
  6. OP, if you really want to know what happened to your former beloved XJ, pay for a real VIN search. The free search crap usually tells you nothing. Cheaper than "driving to NC and driving around town looking for it".
  7. Short vanity visor with lighted mirror inside:
  8. Not possible.
  9. They don't have a good rep for longevity. I replaced my original Bosch 4637192 (NLA) with the replacement Bosch 69302 several years ago and it's still hanging tough. Not saying that's your problem, but all your startup circuitry seems to be working like it should.
  10. Sounds like it's starting to me.......
  11. ^^^ Good for lichon. Mmmmmm...
  12. Do you know which pump was used for the replacement? Bosch. Airtex, etc.?
  13. Did you get the 5-5 code when you checked codes? Last fuel filter change? I'd try a fuel pump flow rate test from the fuel rail port or at the output of the fuel filter. Using an adapter hose the pump should deliver a minimum of one liter of fuel into a bucket in a minute.
  14. The man said he's breaking axles with his current 4.10 D35 - why would he buy another one? It took me two years to find an MJ D44 (3.55) and it would take two more years (if ever) to find a MJ D44 4.10 axle as there were very few. As above, find a 4.10 8.8 or even a 8.25 as both are much stronger than the D35. D44's from an Isuzu, Honda Passport or similar are also fairly plentiful and will work. Lots of them with the 4.10 gears already too. One with disk brakes is a positive and lots of guys are using the stock MJ master / booster and distribution block with them.
  15. Try bypassing with a jumper wire the fuel pump ballast resistor on the left inner fender, engine bay. My 91 has one so I assume your 92 has one too. Have you checked codes using the ignition key? If not, do that. https://comancheclub.com/forums/topic/28111-reading-obdi-91-and-92-mj-fault-codes/
  16. Did you hook up a pressure gauge to see exactly what the fuel pressure is doing? Sounds like the pump might be dying or it's starving for fuel.
  17. Me too. Glad to see you up and about and back on the forum. Now get to work and show that MJ who's the boss.

  19. Great. PM me the payment details, or post it up if you prefer. Thanks
  20. I haven't inspected that connector in years. Next time I have to pull the dash panel I'll take a peek. Are these connectors ready to ship now via Paypal? If so I'll take one now for a spare.
  21. Another way. Use insulated spade connectors though.
  22. It's great you have come up with a new blower motor switch connector replacement, but if you have a dragging blower motor pulling more amps than it's supposed to it's just a matter of time before something in the blower motor speed control circuitry smokes again. The factory wiring is undersized and can't handle any amp overloads throughout the circuit. An excellent way to permanently prevent this is to replace the dragging blower motor with a new one that doesn't draw excess amperage, then add relays to the individual motor windings controlling the motor RPMs. HERE's one way to do it, although I would use a 4-way mini relay box under the dash similar to the below to keep it neat and compact.
  23. Sounds good Ben. Out there you need it in the winters, and insulation is the best investment you can make. We get by year round here with just heat pumps.
