  1. Most excellent writeup Paul. I splice my wires a bit differently (like it shows in the FSM), but your way is good too. Need to get that neat "helping hands" tool - where did you get that? EDIT: Never mind - I see them on Ebay. :D
  2. Yeah, it's probably upgrading to the 1994 and up rotors and hubs after they were standardized for both 2WD and 4WD. My problem on the 91 is the 2WD caliper brackets have worn down where the caliper rides the the bracket surface causing vibration (squeal) from the caliper. Lubrication w. caliper grease helps for a very short time. And of course, new 2WD caliper brackets are no longer available anywhere. I pulled the worst one on the right and had a shop weld a wire bead across the upper and lower caliper mounting surfaces, then grinded it down smooth, and it really helped, but this is just a stop gap measure. :fs1:
  3. Did all that a couple of years ago CW. :D There was a writeup I read somewhere (maybe NAXJA) of a front disk brake upgrade using WJ (or maybe ZJ, or even late model XJ) calipers, rotors, hubs, etc. and keeping the 5x4.5 bolt pattern. Now that I think more about it, must have been the late model XJ or ZJ. You keep the same axle and replace the hub on out to the later model brake parts. I'll have to dig for it I guess..........
  4. Sorry, I should have been clearer. I mean the WJ front disk brakes; rotors, calipers, pads, and new hubs.
  5. Know of a link to that kit CW? :brows:
  6. :agree: They are metric, M14 x 2.0 x 120. I got mine at Fastenal.
  7. I seem to remember the 2WD/4WD rotors were standardized in 1993 (or 1994) and up. But for sure, the MJs thru 1992 used the one piece hub/rotor. I'm using 92 hub/rotors on my 91 2WD. To the OP: What year is your rig, or did I miss it?
  8. Not to steal this thread, but has anyone here done the WJ brake conversion on an XJ/MJ?
  9. OBD1 into an OBD2 vehicle; different sensors, harness, and computer would be an obstacle.
  10. It's not a can of worms. It either works or doesn't. Since our trucks are so old and they are not available anymore, and there is a lack of expertise on how to adjust them, or even how the linkage works, most people bypass them. Or tiewrap the arm up. Or -the most common reason- they flat don't work any more. Mine works fine, and I carry loads, I like the load sensing brake bias function. It still functions as it should, so I see no reason to dump it. If and when it fails, then I will replumb in another load sensing valve probably from a Toy P/U as this looks like the easiest option. And there are many other options, like plumbing in an adj. aftermarket valve in series with the rear brake supply line. Then you would be crawling under the truck fiddling with it when you're rig is hauling. Just do what you think is best for your own rig mate.
  11. Whats a jod offer? Hopefully these 3 or 2 offers in GA work out for you.
  12. Could be. The MJ metering block (the FSM still calls it a proportioning valve for the MJ??) is the same for all MJ years. The load sensing valves are different after 1991. I crack both lines on my 91 load sensing valve separately when gravity bleeding, the upper line -supply, and the left side bypass line - bypass, until I have clear no bubbling fluid flow thru each. Then I do the caliper RR LR RF LF pump and bleed sequence until it's bubble clear w. transparent tubing into a clear jar. This works well for moi. But I'm not sure about the shuttle valve up front - do I have one in the 91? Is this the low fluid pressure switch? :dunno:
  13. I also gravity bleed the load sensing valve at the feed and bypass line by cracking the fittings at the valve. And I do it for about two hours, keeping the master cylinder front and rear tanks full. SOP for gravity bleeding is all wheel calipers and any additional biasing valves. Should have mentioned that..... Thanks for your correction Eagle. No need for CAPS........
  14. So you have a Renix stroker or was the 4.6 a typo?
  15. I still have mine w. some mods. Bleeding is no problem, in spite of what the FSM says about the "special procedure" for the load sensing valve. A long gravity bleed before bleeding the conventional RR, LR, RF, LF wheels in that order is the key. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17968
  16. Tried the 3-cores, 2-cores, the all aluminum single core worked by far the best to keep my stroker cool along with the Hesco hi-flow pump. It's bolt-in for open and closed systems, and has the bung hole for the Renix temp sensor. Been four years now, still all is well. http://www.alumrad.com/dblpass.html The Jeep Cherokee model #9168
  17. Naturally I could not pull the carpeting, but the underbody looks better than mine. I'll send you his telephone number via PM. :D
  18. Shoot me an email with your email address and I'll send you the schematic how I wired my 91.
  19. Ayup. Sounds like ECU mate.
  20. Just an example of the typical southern el cheapo MJ Bob. Also stumbled on another one today hidden on the low rent side streets, an 88 factory MJ Laredo in a back yard. Drove in and an old guy came out and started yakking, and yakking, and yakking. He bought it new special order from the dealer in late 87. Claims it was the first MJ Laredo. Had all the Laredo stuff plus a D44 rear. No MT springs, 5-speed, white, just as he ordered it from the factory. The only new vehicle purchase in his life. Two hours later I got out of there as he showed me a lot of unfinished Studebaker pickups (I love them) that had been sitting for years and he still thinks he'll finish them up one day. I made him an offer on the Laredo strictly for the D44, but I think he wants to keep it, as it's still his most prized possession. Nice old guy to talk too. Interesting day. :D
  21. If you are under the truck on the drivers side and sight down the drag link, if you turn the adj. sleeve cw the steering wheel moves cw.
  22. Found this one about a mile from the house, contacted the seller. He's a local fireman and wants $500 for it, but I think he will settle for less. 2WD, 4.0L, A/C, runs and drives. Very nice rust-free body. Seller says it runs great but has a blown head gasket. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  23. He was? Okay.
  24. What? Toy pickups use them as well as a number of minivans. And probably many more that I don't know about. Don't understand what you are trying to say?
