  1. I'm done too............
  2. Roger, just wanted it verified. Thanks.
  3. I'm doing the above, replacing the original drag link on my MJ with a new ZJ V8 unit. And yes, it is just a bit beefier, and will go with the rest of the ZJ V8 steering. The bushings on the Pitman arm and right wheel have a little play. Just for review, as long as I install it adjusted exactly to the length of the old one, no worries about alignment, correct? All I'll probably have to do is adjust the turnbuckle slightly to re-center the steering wheel, si? It's been awhile.........
  4. Must be a bitter Duck fan. :D
  5. :agree: 4.10 is the ideal ratio for 31s w. the AW4. I ran 3.55s for awhile and the gearing was too tall. The final drive ratio using 4.10s is slightly numerically lower than stock gearing and tires would be (makes the engine turn about 200RPM higher at 65-75 MPH in O/D) but to me that's a good thing. It even helped my gas mileage a bit over stock. D44s with the 4.10 ratio are rare animals, so the Ford 8.8 is a good choice, especially with rear disks. For me though, I'd beat the bushes hard for a D44 and regear.
  6. Thanks but even I don't believe that. :D Notice Bama's already woopin' up on Michigan? 21-0 and that's just the 1st quarter. The only way Michigan can move the ball is backwards. It will be a boring second half as Bama will downshift to the mercy mode. I lied. While I was typing Bama just scored a field goal; 24-0.
  7. I've used one of these drill pump for years. It's good for draining gas tanks, auto trannys, changing oil, and real good for motorcycle forks as you can suck everything out w/o pulling the fork/wheel. I've even used it for pumping water from heat pump condensation pans out the window. It'll pump anything and pumps surprisingly fast. You can use 1/2" garden hose and it comes with reducers for smaller hoses too. One of the best tools in my box.
  8. Jack the front end up, wheels hanging. The coils should separate enough to get a pipe wrench or LARGE channel locks on the top of the bump stop flange. They simply unscrew. Douche it down well beforehand with PB Blaster. You can pull out the old ones and insert the new ones through the coils with a little persuasion from a crowbar or tire iron.
  9. :hijack: Charlie, what have you done to the flares? They look good chopped off like that; did you need extra clearance? Just noticed this. Ain't that the truth. :jump:
  10. On a 1-5 degree of difficulty with 1 = easy, I'd rate it a 1. It's plug-in and play.
  11. Unplug the 3-pin connector from the back of the POWER/COMFORT switch. Make up a short jumper wire jumper using a couple of 1/4" blade connectors on each end, and jumper pins B and C together on the connector. The pins are marked. You are now in the POWER mode. See if that makes a difference.
  12. Cruiser, I would still like to know what's the purpose of cutting off the vent towers. Will the internal flapper valve still work as designed at the same pressures if you do this? Just can't see any reason for doing it..... :dunno:

  14. I had the Isuzu version of this S10 for a couple of years in the Philippines, a local 1985 Isuzu P'up w. the 2.2. Super reliable rig, ecnomical, but it was a real oinker on the road. But I liked it. Looked similar to this one HERE. The average local couldn't afford gasoline, so the Isuzu diesels were transplanted into about everything. I once went to look at a gorgeous 65 factory GT Mustang in Manila. Opened the hood and there was an Isuzu diesel sitting there. :ack: Dayem!
  15. I think it was just him Brett. The guy is a real MJ lover. You would think that with three Chrysler dealerships, although all small, he would have run across some super nice ones through the years. I'm thinking he made the offer because he knew I wouldn't do it. I should have screamed HECK YEAH!! so I could see him tap dance.
  16. Don't you mean storker Eagle? :D

  18. Looks like you found your old digital camera? :D
  19. I've been test driving the both the 2DR and 4DR Wranglers for the last few years and was not excited by any of them. Mama preferred the 4DR because it reminded her of her old 01 XJ. The pre-2012 3.8 2DR was a okay, but was squirrelly at anything over 70 on the highway. The 4DR was more stable, but a real dog because of the extra weight. With the 3.6 in 2012 they got it right. Brought it home today and did some unofficial in-house testing. My JK has 3.73 gears and 16" tires still (awaiting the 18") and it was pretty decent off the stoplight line. Mama knows how to drag a bit so we brought her JK and my MJ to a large abandoned parking lot in town where there is an 1/8 mile straight for public use. The MJ (me) left the JK (her) immediately but toward the end of the 1/8 the JK pulled almost even. Swapped vehicles/drivers; same result. 1/4 mile, maybe close, me thinks the JK would pull a close win. Weight. gearing, tires, many many variables. :D Very early impressions: The new 2012 JK w. the 3.6 is for sure light years ahead of the older underpowered 3.8 equipped models, and the final 01 XJs, but still not a world beater. It's a docile comfortable freeway and local in-town cruiser, and amazingly quiet. Good handling with not much body roll. Will post pics when I get the new wheels on - very soon.
  20. Just a wild shot in the dark here, but I'd ASSume he was referring to one of his previous posts. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=36963
