  2. It's probably not a hard and fast rule, but I packed in one additional 4.0 mm shim behind each LCA when I did the 3" lift. Caster went from ~4° back to ~7°.
  3. Yes, they are interchangable. You're right about the bracketry differences and there are other subtle differences, but they are all Saginaw TC pump variations. My old 91 original pump was tired and leaky, so when I swapped in the quick ratio steering box from a 98 ZJ, I also swapped in a newer pump from a wrecked 04 Wrangler TJ. The only difference was the departure angle of the reservoir return hose nipple, and it worked just fine with both the original bracketry and the newer 1997 and up bracketry I used for the new 01 intake manifold later.
  4. Good enough for what? You certainly improved the wire splices, but if the splices were not correctly wired originally, who knows? Obviously an idiot did the original splicing, but you need to check out the wiring with a multimeter based on a correct wiring diagram for your truck.
  5. Here's an actual pic of my master and booster. I got the master on Ebay, and it's supposedly from a 95 XJ. I do know the booster is 95/96 as it was from some NOS stuff that I had. But since you are probably pulling the master directly off a 96 XJ in your herd, I wouldn't be surprised if my master were not a 95. Please post a pic up when you can Jim.

  7. I have a 95 master on mine and it looks like this - deeper on one chamber. And 95-98 use the same master. :thumbsup:

  10. The "cure" is an intake manifold heat shield and a wrap around the affected injector, usually #3. The part number is highlighted in RED above is the injector wrap. The debris shield mentioned above is part number is CBXCB060, and pictured below. I put one on when I installed my 2001 intake manifold. Both are like $2-$3 at the dealer.
  11. There are several interesting 18" JK take-off wheels out there too - most have Bridgestone Dueler AT tires mounted. I have those on my wife's JK in fact. They are also 32.1" tall, exactly the same the 17" w. Goodyears are. Hmmmmm........
  12. Thanks for posting the pics. I still love that Waggy front clip. If the Goodyears are 32" tall they must be the JK 17" wheels, si? I ask because some JKs also came with those same Rubi wheels at 16" w. Goodyear Duretrac tires. Those are 30.5" tall and might be a better fit on an unlifted MJ.
  13. Only the slip yoke from a 2WD AX5 tranny won't work for your application because it has 21 splines. But the 2WD (or 4WD) slip yokes from an AW4 or AX15 transmission will because it's spline count is 27 splines.
  14. You got me curious too - just checked the 91. The horn blows and all the lights work with the ignition OFF.

  16. Press the switch detent button with your ohmmeter hooked across the brake light wire terminals, ignition off. Observe meter for continuity in one position, open in the other.
  17. Not if the vehicle has all drums or like everything today, all disks. Ever know of any vehicle with drums in the front and disks in the back? I don't. :dunno:

  19. Also correct. That's one reason (besides flexibility) that using wending cable for mains cables is always a good idea.
  20. The larger the cable diameter, the less resistance. And the longer the cable, the more resistance per foot. So if you know the manufacturers ohms per-foot resistance of the welding cable you are using, the total length, and the load of the winch, it's pretty easy to calculate.

  22. That's not too bad Jerry. Seavey - Shorevey rotation for FT's back then was 6 - 2. And the only places we could go for shore duty was a Weps Sta, or be a recruiter or some other generic job like pushing boots. :shake: Ships I was on were the Yarnell (better known an the Urinal), Pratt, and Belknap, all decommissioned now.
  23. Yeah, I think I would have mounted it in an "enclosed" enclosure, like an aftermarket battery box, something like the Chevy SSR and other trucks do it to keep it out of the weather. Also would have used a non-venting battery like the Optima.
