Going to eyeball this J-truck this weekend since it's close by. Never had a J-truck, always wanted one w/o a lot of work, and am familiar with it's stock 350 Buick engine intimately. It was originally a CO truck, the local seller is the 3rd owner. The Ebay link is HERE. Looking for words of wisdom from knowledgeable J-truck aficionados as to yea or nay. Thanks guys.

New front brakes, inner and outer pad?
HOrnbrod replied to airspeed's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Glad you found it. I used Wagner pads when this happened to me and their web site told me nothing. Here's a pic of them. -
New front brakes, inner and outer pad?
HOrnbrod replied to airspeed's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ah yes, I remember that problem from long ago. Yes, one pad is for the inboard side; the other is outboard, and they will mount either way. If you put them in wrong, they will squeal. Loudly. I had to dig deeply in the FSM for a picture, and there was nothing mentioned about it in the procedure writeup. Compare them to your old ones and put the new ones back in the same way. If your old inboard and outboard pads are the same, I'll dig up the FSM pic. I also posted about this subject here, and can not find it at the moment.......... -
Need a pipe adapter
HOrnbrod replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think that will work since it's only for the coolant temp gauge, si? If it's not indicating correctly you can always plug it with a 1/8" NPT plug. BTW, 1/8" x 27 as in your first post thread is 1/8 NPT. -

In standard configuration, the Renix system ECU temp signals come from the temp sensor on the left lower side of the block under the exhaust manifold. If you have moved that to the stat housing, theoretically it will be sensing cooler coolant temperatures and could possibly affect mileage as it will run richer. For the HO's, the ECU temp signals come from the sensor in the stat housing. -
There were are actually six variances of rear coil springs available on the ZJs. 7 SPRING, Rear Coil 5208 8364 AR w/Std. Susp. Coded (JE), (ZXR,ZJR) 5208 9142 AR w/Std. Susp. Coded (JF), (ZXS,ZJS) 5208 9143 AR w/Std. Susp. Coded (JG), (ZXT,ZJT) 5208 9144 AR w/H.D. Susp. Coded (JH), w/AWE (Up Country Susp. Pkg.), (ZXU,ZJU) 5208 9145 AR w/H.D. Susp. There are quite a few reports on the stroker forums of guys using the 0630 head w/o the temp sensor hole and using the bushed down thermostat housing hole instead. It almost never works because the sensor element is not immersed enough to provide accurate temp readings. I'd drill and tap a 1/8 NPT hole on the head boss if it were me. -
The door seals TC sells are reproductions from "overseas", not OEM and as such are probably not quite right. Like relyt120, I grabbed some used seals and while tight at first, fit great after a week or so. Good luck.

2.5 (renix) to 4.0 (renix) swap
HOrnbrod replied to 90comancheman's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
^^ This is sort of true in stock configuration if both system are running as advertised. This seldom happens. The HO OBD1 system helps for diagnosing problems and is much more forgiving for "old vehicle" sensor wiring impedance of less than ohm that can make or break a Renix from running well or not at all. But the best advantage of the HO's are most all replacement parts are still available, and simple intake and exhaust bolt-on upgrades from later model HO engines are easy and inexpensive to do w/o interface problems. -
There's a 96 ZJ in Agat HERE that may be worth looking into. Starts with fluid but dies - probably needs only a fuel pump. 4.0, auto, interior might be good. $350 as is. Most of the steering and suspension parts are direct bolt-ins and an upgrade.

Yep, that's what friends are for, and/or membership in a local clubs. I wouldn't let someone I don't know touch my MJ or even come to my house.
-
Also check the base classified ads in the weekly news rags from Andersen AFB and the Naval Base. Base personnel part out Jeeps frequently. Also Craigslist Micronesia has Jeeps for parts occasionally.
-
The show is dumbed down a bit, actually a lot, but the ingenuity they are forced to implement is interesting. You see that a lot of that in the Philippines too with WW2 US military vehicles still running around, especially Jeeps. Most all of them have Toyota drive trains and reproduced stainless body parts.

Anyone watch this show on the Discovery channel? I like it. I'll never complain again about how difficult it is to get MJ parts.
-
Yep - missed the 2005. Sure looks a lot wider than a TJ axle up front..............
-
Looks kind of goofy with the front JK Ruby D44 ~64" WMS-WMS axle and the rear MJ D44 ~60" WMS-WMS axle. Other than that it does look sweet.

I use the "Neon" injectors (Bosch 0 280 155 703) for the stroker with a Hesco adj. fuel pressure regulator. These are EV6 injectors with EV1 connectors (no adapters needed using the stock 91-95 HO harness). The Neon injectors also work well for the stock HOs using the factory regulator. Got them from Programbo also. Good guy............

Look at that bench seat now

Wish I had know that when I put the new bottom bucket in. Was like trying to squeeze 10 lbs of s#^! into a 5 lb bag. The pic below shows the old part and the new. Both are the same p/n............ Image Not Found
