Durango box in my Comanche
PIKE replied to Jackrabbit41's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What is the ratio of the Grand Cherokee ZJ box that i have read is quicker steering and considered an upgrade? Also the Lares web site shows that there box is also available with a 10.1 ratio. -
What about the rubber bumpers at the top? Mine are too thin and my tail gate rattles back and forth up there too.

You are correct about the ballast resistor and EGR. If you look close in the picture you can see where i moved the ballast resistor. I have deleted my EGR system so that was not in the way either. HOrnbrod, I am replacing the ballast resistor with the Standard Motor Products RU13 per your specifications. Thanks, to both of you. -

Sure, The Macs tank will replace the stock plastic tank. The difference is it uses a standard radiator cap and it has a hose barb for an expansion tank. The 2.5 had an open system and the bottle they used will bolt into the stock location. Then all that is needed is a hose from the macs tank to th 2.5 bottle. Open system is complete. https://www.quadratec.com/products/51216_02.htm -

You don't need a new radiator to go open. Mac's expasion tank + Jeep 2.5 coolant bottle = Open system http://macsradiatorshop.com/replacment-jeep-radiator-fill-tanks.html Clean and simple. The mounting holes are already there for the 2.5 bottle. -
Is there a difference in the RU-13 and the RU-13T ?

AX15 - Gear Oil vs. Motor Oil (again)
PIKE replied to youngfred's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a 1996 Ford f350 with a 7.3 Powerstroke diesel and ZF 5 speed manual transmission. I go on several forums for this truck just like this forum for Comanches. Guys there do some crazy stuff from sled pulling, 5th wheel hauling, and giant flat beds. The one oil that stands out far above is Redline MTL as the one that is most recommended. Ford manual specifies synthetic ATF but the Ford OBS users vote for the Redline MTL MTL is the same as MT-90, MT-90 is higher viscosity. The Powerstroke guys like the MTL better for cold weather shiftability. -
I thought the shroud was part of the fan.

Thanks everyone, I know what to look for now.

Thanks, I will check my local junk yard. I will be curious to see if the fans have 9 or 10 blades. It was the Mopar fans on Rockauto that cost more than $250.
-
Actually i just looked at rockauto again. For 2001 they list 10 different fans. What is weird is if you look at the pictures some have 10 blades and some have 9. Price range is $43 to $258 Am I missing something?
-
I don't mind splicing the connector, just want what will fit with no other mods. Will go with 99 to 01 there are at least 6 different options on rockauto, any opinion as to the best brand? Thanks for all the replies.

Is it worth the extra money for a Mopar fan? After market is around $50.00 Mopar can be $200.00

I want to replace the stock electric fan in my 89 4.0. The one i have now is noisy and vibrates. What would be the best one for me to use as far as Brand and model year. Seems like there are a lot of different styles as far as number and shape of fan blades. Thanks

Use this to check the spec. Had the same problem. Just needed to tighten the belt. http://www.daycoproducts.com/dayco%C2%AE-belt-tension-gauges
