  1. I've been there 5 years straight for the NAXJA Fall Fling, until 2009. Wasn't able to make it. But I'm planning for the 2010 Fling in October. Have fun out there!
  2. Holy crap! That was you? My buddy told me that he saw an MJ on fire on Weir Canyon and asked if it was anyone I knew.
  3. Do you have an auto or standard tranny on your 92? AFAIK the booster arm mounts on opposite side of the brake pedal depending on the tranny since there's no clutch pedal. Auto.
  4. I put a WJ booster and master in my 92 MJ and was a direct bolt-in.
  5. 1) Dana 44 with 4.56 gears, 33-spline Detroit locker, Alloy USA shafts, and Explorer disc brakes. 2) York OBA system 3) 97+ header panel, fenders, and doors
  6. I need new belts because they don't retract well any more. I wonder how their retractable belts would adapt to the MJ. I'll have to take the side panel off and check it out. Thanks for that link. http://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/WSCH14134C.html
  7. Just watch "The 40-Year Old Virgin" and you won't want to get your chest waxed.
  8. I use a Schick XTreme III to shave my face and head every morning. When I first started shaving my head 15 years ago, I thought it would quicker and easier with an electric razor. Nope. I use the Schicks because they pivot AND flex to follow the contours of my skull. And why do people say that you get a closer shave when you go WITH the hair and not AGAINST it? There is no way I can get a close shave unless I do go against the grain.
  9. We did this when we changed my friend's HB. We braced a breaker bar on the ground. I was also a bit leery, but we were out of options. And it actually worked quite well. Just make sure the breaker bar is in the correct position. Looking from the front, the bar would have to be on the ground at about the 5 o'clock position.
  10. I'm thinking it's an SAE size. Get a complete set of L-shaped allen wrenches. Don't cost that much. Or you can get a cheap set of allen sockets at Harbor Freight.
  11. I also have 97+ front flares and 92 rear flares. Doesn't bother me at all.
  12. Looks great! Maybe mine will look that good once it's painted. :)
  13. That's the place where I bought my injectors last year. There was one bad injector in the set they sent me, but they were very quick in sending me a new set.
  14. I have the 97+ door seals on my MJ. But I also have 97+ doors as well. But I put 97+ seals on my old 96 and they worked just fine. Try slamming it a little harder?
  15. In June 2004, we had a group of six Jeeps on the Rubicon Trail. We were approaching Buck Island Lake where we were going to camp for the night. We passed a buggy going the opposite direction. The two guys had obviously been drinking, as they made a rude comment about the girl in our group. As we set up camp, the driver came running up saying that his buggy had flopped and his passenger was badly hurt. We went down about 1/4 mile to provide assistance. Luckily, there was a paramedic who was camping nearby. When I saw the injured guy, I thought he was dead. His face was kinda gray colored. He had been pinned underneath the buggy. One of our guys has a mobile ham radio in his Jeep. He was able to call out for help. A helicopter arrived in about 15 minutes. Another one of our guys has a marine radio in his Jeep. He was able to talk to the helicopter pilot directly and guide him to a good landing spot that we found. We carried the stretcher back 1/4 mile uphill in very rocky terrain to where the helicopter was. We found out through Pirate that the guy made a full recovery. So in this case, a ham radio did save someone's life. Well, the paramedic played a huge role too. I found out that day how valuable a ham radio can be in an emergency situation. Because of that experience, I got my technician license and I joined the local sheriff's Search and Rescue unit as a volunteer. I have a Yaesu VX-6R handheld radio that I use for wheeling and on SAR missions. I plan to get a mobile unit for the Jeep (probably the FT-8800).
  16. Looks good Pete. I like the new color of the truck.
  17. Mounted up a couple of 305/70/16 Maxxis Bighorns to replace my two front bald ones. Found two used tires of the exact same brand and size as the ones that I've been running. About 10/32" tread for $20 each at a tire store. Had a hell of a time getting these on my beadlocks. Couldn't break the bead on the first one. Then couldn't seat the bead on the second one. But it's all done now. Used 8 oz. of Airsoft pellets in each tire.
  18. Welcome. What is your location? If you were local to me, I'd lend a hand in getting it put back together.
  19. The NAXJA SoCal Fest event was last weekend in Big Bear. Cracker and I were the only two MJs amongst the multitude of XJs. Cracker made everything look easy, but he IS on 37s after all. ;) His mini cage and rear bumper were pretty cool. These pics were from the John Bull trail. We later did a night run on Gold Mountain.
  20. That's Tom AKA Cruzin Illusion on NAXJA. I've seen his XJ out in Moab. He does some very nice work. That picture doesn't show his tube flares. http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=922035
  21. The turn signal stalk that also controls the wipers and cruise control.
  22. No, the early door panels won't fit the late model doors. The window regulators are also different between the two. Not sure though if the early ones can be made to work on the later doors. Yes, there were late model XJs with manual windows. I have them on my MJ.
  23. You should bolt the axle up under the truck, set the pinion angle where you want it, tack weld the perches, then take the axle back out to finish the welding.
  24. I have a box full of Playboys from that time period. Don't know why I still have them. But as I remember, they had automotive ads in them. I'll have to go through them and see what I can find.
  25. XJs and MJs are known to do this. There's a lot of pressure in a PS system and it can blow the cap off. It's happened to a few people I know. I keep a spare one in my toolbox now.
