  1. Don't know how I never saw that other thread. Don, if you buy it, I'll pick it up for you and drive it halfway. :D
  2. But we all know that "lifting a truck" does not necessarily mean "taking it offroad". :D Man, wish I had the money. I'd keep it as is, and only change the tranny. And maybe the wheels. Are those the original Street Comanche wheels?
  3. Yeah, that's one of the Street Comanches made by Archer Bros. Racing. And all of them were red. They're very rare, especially in good condition. So it would be stupid to lift it. ;) http://comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopi ... 96&start=0

  5. Yes, they're the same.
  6. I put XJ main leaves with the eyes cut off into my MJ packs and got about two inches of lift.
  7. I've got a Hesco water pump. http://www.hesco.us/shop.asp?action=det ... catId=7967 $170!! Glad I got mine for free. :D
  8. You're right. The Presidential race should be based on popular vote, and not by electoral votes. The way it's set up now, a winner is declared while the polls on the west coast are still open. It just doesn't make sense. But I'm not here to talk politics either. :D
  9. Maybe I'm naive (at my old age). But I'm also not paranoid. Don't get frustrated. It's just a friendly conversation.
  10. No, I don't think your getting it. This is saying that regardless of your criminal activity they can put it on your vehicle at will, whenever they want, without a warrant. It is also saying that just because your on your own property you cannot have an "expectation of privacy." You're not getting what I'm saying. They can come put a tracking device on my truck whenever they want. But it would be a waste of money to do so, and it would be a waste of time to track said device. For these reasons, plus the fact that I am not involved in any illegal activities, nobody is going to be putting a device on my truck any time soon. Nobody cares who I am and where I go. The trackers would get bored really fast. If authorities want to put a tracking device on the vehicle of a suspected criminal, I see no problem with that. As long as you abide by the law, nobody is going to take the time or expense to track you.
  11. Ha. I knew I'd ruffle someone's feathers. I'm saying that as long as you're not doing something illegal, nobody is going to be putting a tracking device on your vehicle. Quite different from what you're saying. Yes, it would be wrong if a tracking device was placed on every single vehicle on the road. But that's not what's happening.
  12. They way I see it - Don't do anything illegal and you won't have to worry about being tracked. 8)
  13. Man, I'd be all over this if it was for a shortbed. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/pt ... 49371.html
  14. Just look at the drum brakes. They look so antiquated, like they're from the early 1900s. ;) The reason I converted to discs is for ease of maintenance, like MJPioneer said. But a properly adjusted drum brake setup will work great.
  15. Renix compressors mount with horizontal bolts to the bracket which bolts to the block. H.O. compressors mount with vertical bolts. Now...perhaps it is possible to do what you're suggesting if you also change the mounting bracket. This, I'm not sure of. R12 was used up until 1994. From 1995, R134 was used. So you could get an H.O. compressor from a 91-94 and continue to use R12 or an R12 substitute. Or get an H.O. compressor from a 95+ and switch over to R134.
  16. But what's the point of an aftermarket diff cover if you're not offroading? A little cleaning and a fresh coat of paint will make it look nice. A hundred bucks versus ten bucks. I'm not saying the kid shouldn't get a new diff cover. Just playing devil's advocate. What rear axle do you have?
  17. Never heard of that problem before. The closest electrical components to the balancer would be the alternator or ignition coil. If it's in rhythm with the RPMs, I'm thinking ignition coil. Perhaps the coil housing is cracked? Just a wild guess.
  18. The hose that goes from the lower outlet on the firewall to the water pump is 5/8". The hose that goes from the upper outlet on the firewall to the thermostat housing is 11/16".
  19. I just took my disconnect off altogether today. It was leaking, so I did the cut and double clamp bit. Not leaking anymore.
  20. Hopefully fixed my cooling system. A few weeks ago, I overheated twice going up to Big Bear. Funny thing is that once I got home, it never ran hot, even sitting in traffic. But I had a CSF radiator and Hesco water pump sitting in the garage, so I decided to throw them on the Jeep. Also put on a Hesco thermostat housing, Stant thermostat, ZJ fan clutch, and a new lower hose. And I went to the junkyard to get a lower hose spring. All went well except for that stupid disconnect for the tranny cooler. It started leaking pretty badly, so I just took the disconnect off, cut the hose, and double clamped it to the outlet on the radiator. No more leaks. The needle sits just below the 210 mark. I guess the real test will be uphill highway driving and slow rock crawling. But I'm pretty sure everything is okay now. By replacing so many parts at once, I don't know which one was the culprit. I'm betting on the fan clutch and a collapsed lower hose.
  21. I'd weld the tubes to the pumpkin. This happened to a guy on a trail run. We managed to get him off the mountain and into town.
  22. Yes, the carriers are different. The changeover year between the 27- and 29-spline was 1996. An earlier 8.25 has 27 splines and the later ones have 29 splines. On a 1996 XJ, you'd have to pull the cover to count the splines to be absolutely sure.
  23. It's actually an 11/16" hose. But since that size is a little harder to find, 3/4" will work. I would double-clamp it. You can also use 5/8" hose, but it's a little tight. And 5/8" is the size of the other heater hose from the water pump to the firewall.
  24. If you're into mountain biking at all, the greatest mountain bike park in the world is in Whistler. Rent a bike and take a few runs down the mountain. Great fun. Even better if it's muddy. Whistler Village is really cool too.
  25. Do you have a Harbor Freight near you? They have several inexpensive code readers. When I had my 98 XJ, I kept one of their $20 readers in the glove box. It came in handy many times. I could plug it in and get the codes while driving down the highway.
