  1. Put the Aussie back together with a new spacer to replace the broken one and installed in the carrier. Yes, I managed to break an Aussie locker last trip offroad. And as unusual it is to break them in the first place, I broke it in a (according to Bill Cole from Torq Masters) very unusual way.
  2. Should be on the outside (towards outside of truck, or left when sitting in driver seat) of the fuse block, mostly hidden from view.
  3. To be more specific, if your tuck has a headlight sentinel, they should be off when you first turn the lights off, then turn off the truck. If you turn the truck off first, then the lights the headlights only will stay on for about a minute.
  4. From the factory the 2.5 came with either an ax4 or ax5 for manual transmission. The only way to put an ax15 behind it is to find a 2.5/ax15 Dodge Dakota and use that bellhousing. These are extremely difficult to find.
  5. I thought about doing it, but decided against it because you need solid metal to weld it to. Something my truck does not have much of. If you are going to do it I would tie it into the frame rail as well as the floor.
  6. That's what I mean. If he keep the old gear ratio he needs new gears and a carrier. If he regears, he needs new gears and a carrier. No matter what he does, he still needs gears and a carrier.
  7. What ratio is the axle now and what ratio are you going to? What difference does that make, Don? The pinion gear is missing a chunk and the carrier is cracked...
  8. Seems like you got a housing with brakes and shafts. Everything inside the diff would need to be replaced. This would be carrier, gears, master install kit and possibly seals.
  9. Ruff Stuff Specialties makes some beefy longer than stock (to help combat axle wrap) ones for a decent price.
  10. Say Don, why not dump those Ford :ack: disk brakes and install a a set of ZJ ones?
  11. The perches need to be cut off and new ones welded on in the correct place. The spacing between the Cherokee springs is not the same as a Comanche/
  12. That is an incredible price for a 44. Jump on it before it's gone or the owner comes to his senses. A disco is short for a central axle disconnect. A vacuum system to disengage the passenger side axle shaft on the Dana 30 front axle when in 2wd. It had problems (vacuum lines get caught off road and ripped off leaving you in 2wd) and two piece shafts with the larger u joints you want are hard to find. It is relatively simple to get rid of it and run a single piece shaft, though.
  13. Don't forget wheel spacers on the 8.8 to keep the tires off the inside of the wheel well. It is just enough narrower to make a problem on a Comanche, but work without spacers on Wranglers and Cherokees which have a narrower body in the rear. Also something to adapt the 1310 drive shaft to it, whether it be a 1310 flange to bolt to the diff, or a conversion joint to use the Exploder flange.
  14. Correction: Will most likely be a Dana 35. Should of specified: 35/44 front/rear 35 was only used as a front axle by Ford. TTB Exploder comes to mind. All Comanches came from the factory with a Dana 30 front axle. There is nothing wrong with these that junkyard parts (shafts with larger u joints) can't take care of. 99% of Comanches came from the factory with a Dana 35 rear axle. They are junk. Some of these have had something better swapped in since then. 1% came from the factory with a Dana 44 rear axle. The holy grail; everybody wants them and they go for a premium price. A Dana 35 can fail just cruising down the highway, just ask Pete.
  15. They missed the cab vents behind the doors, though. Maybe it's a Cheromanche.
  16. just making sure you weren't going to lock a D35. No experience with Spartan, but been very impressed with the Aussie.
  17. One question first: What rear axle do you have?
  18. Pat, he says it only whines when stopped and in gear. This means the clutch IS depressed -> throwout bearing.
  19. Krylon makes a paint specifically for plastics. I believe it's called fusion.
  20. Lost my patience trying to climb a ledge that denied me.
  21. Turned out axle shafts are fine. Broke the Aussie Locker.
  22. Wrangler mount is not the same as Cherokee/Comanche, although the Ebay listing suggests it is. You got a Wrangler one. If you need just the rubber part, Rockauto has it for less than $11 new.
  23. Broke a front axle shaft.
  24. Older would still need to be newer than 94 as they changed the cut of the gears that year.
