If my paint looks like it baked in the Florida sun for 15 years and was never waxed what should I start with and how should I apply it? I have an angle grinder that I can put some buffing pads on. Can someone show me which pads I should use with each compound?

Mine does the same thing; barely above the 160* mark. I put a new 195* thermo in last summer but had idiot lights then. Since I switched to gauges it has run like this. I figure it may be the gauge itself, and if not, it is better than the alternative.

Does the shuffle just play songs at random? or can you create song lists and play them in order?

Carpeted Floor Mat suggestions?
maddzz1 replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Husky has the floor "mats" and the floor "liners". The liners have like a 2" edge on them to stop water and stuff from getting on the rug. I think they hook to the floor too. I think I will be getting a set after I fix my floors. -
I just ordered a set of the 4.5" leaf packs from hellcreek, they should be here on Friday. Ive heard good things about them but havent tried them for myself yet. For the front I'm going with RE.

stalling out and high idle
maddzz1 replied to genorater's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not positive but I think once it warmed up it would run horribly, if at all, since the O2 sensor tells the ECU which/how much fuel to air mix. Try it and if it runs about the same as it does now it is a good sign it is a bad O2 sensor. the high idle still leans toward a bad iac. I think i remember reading a while back that someone replaced the iac and the problem persisted. turned out the new iac was defective. Once they returned it for another one the problem was solved. I would return that iac for another one. -
Well, what did you do?

stalling out and high idle
maddzz1 replied to genorater's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The fact that it runs fine until warm leads me to believe it is your O2 sensor since it will run in open loop mode until it warms up and then start getting info from the O2 sensor.. That with the fact that you cleaned the throttle body with brake cleaner which from what Pete wrote sounds like it could have damaged the O2 sensor -
stalling out and high idle

Did you try cleaning the throttle body when you were changing the iac. Maybe it is sticking. You could also have gotten a bad iac. i remember reading that the pintle in the iac is quite sensitive. -
I had an old escort that did something similar and it was the wires.anytime i let off the gas and tried to reapply pressure to the pedal it had no acceleration (like it wasnt getting gas). i would have to put very little pressure on the pedal to get it to "catch" and then it woul take forever to get up any speed.

glad to hear they caught the infection in time and she is doing fine. I have 3 daughters so i know it must have been scary

The one at the top is the map sensor. The one on the drivers side (right side in the pic) is your egr solenoid.

That flopping around is caused by worn bushings at the joints where the linkage arms join up. There's a replacement bushing kit in the HELP! line at all the parts chains. From memory, I'll say I *THINK* the number is 49555. I'll try to confirm that when I get to the basement later ... if I remember to look. I bought the bushings but then the "added attraction" of the wipers barely moving at times decided to join in; so I figure I will just replace the whole thing.

You have to host them on another site like photobucket. Taz has a DIY around here somewhere. I will see if I can find it. Here it is: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11077

Yes, A nice write up w/ pics for the DIY section would be great. I need to fix my linkage when it warms up too.

Maybe Pete can move this to the DIY section. :dunno:

I here you Rich. Mine either go so fast that they go off the side of the windshield then come back and hit the cowl below the windshield or they barely move at all. I just got another used motor for $12 from a place near me that sells jeep parts.

In my state (RI) any car over 10 years old does not need a title. I thought it was like that everywhere. :???:

I might give this a shot... Mines not really ripped or anything, just dirty and kind of smelly... I can borrow a power washer from a friend... I'll give it a couple scrubs with the power washer and some scrubbing and some serious dry time and we'll see what she looks like before I spend $150+ for something that might not fit that well anyhow... And then I still have to find the water intrusion spots... I see a little more rust behind the Fuse box under the driver side, so I will start there, although the pass. side was significantly "wetter"... Here it is now, 1/2 dry in most places... Wade, Never post a picture of a dead guy rolled up in a rug on the internet. If you need a pic of the rug atleast make sure his feet are out of the shot.

I think either TNT or CE were working on something like that too. Not positive tho.

If you can bring battery powered tools, go to rent a center or someplace like that and rent a sawzall for the day for like $15. Then you can cut any bolts that strip out on you

I know that from 90 up the lowers are different on MJs and XJs. 3134 and 3137 on 89 and under and 3134 and 3161 on 90 and up
