Painting Fender Flares
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I painted the rears, they have held up well with Krylon Fusion. Need to do the fronts to match because I can't afford to do a full on paint job anytime soon, plus my son is still using it as his DD so I don't want to drop that kind of coin and have him ding it up! LOL I'll get some pics and post tomorrow. I think it looks pretty good as black and maroon, but when I ever get to having it painted, I think I might go back to the OEM grey/silver. Black and maroon is so common, I like the contrast of the grey/silver. -

CSF radiator unbox and . . . Problem?
WahooSteeler replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have generally heard good things about CSF radiators, but I would not hesitate to send this back for a replacement. Rock Auto's customer service is very good in my personal experience so I would think you won't have any trouble. Just my 2 cents worth. -
Love it........definitely has some serious rear suspension and/or air bags, not even squatting!

Nope, wasn't planning on messing with that. I have a list I copied from somewhere of screw and bolt sizes that I forgot I had, just remembered and checked it, sure enough it had cargo light screws listed as #6 sheet metal screws, 1.5" long. I had a pack of #8x1" I tried tonight and they were too large. I'll grab some #6's tomorrow and report back.

Wheel center to Flare on rear for stock.
WahooSteeler replied to Sir Sam's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sam, found a previous thread with similar questions. Cruiser said he was 19" hub center to bottom of flare at the rear and 18.25" at the front. I believe he was providing stock height. -
Eagle, no jacknuts on mine, not sure if it was/is supposed to since mine is factory (I have the original window sticker ). Stroker, thanks a lot, they are M4 x .7-35mm with the jacknuts according to your instructions. M4 x .7-? is a common size on our trucks for trim pieces. Fyi, that's the size of the screws that hold the door handle in place, 16mm long I believe.

Erandel and/or Eaglescout, what size screws does this take? I took mine off today to replace the cracked housing with another and as expected, the screws were rusted and broke off. Thanks for any help

I'm waaayyy more cautious on FB Marketplace and Clist, and I think it's natural for a lot of us in our tight knit little community of ComancheClub to get comfortable and assume everybody on here is legit. It's not a question of "if" it's going to happen but "when", and these people weren't the first to try to sneak in here and won't be the last, no doubt!

Thanks Alexia and Pete. To all members, the admins were on this in a flash which gives me peace of mind on how well this site is run and monitored. No sooner than I had reported the PMs, I messaged Pete to be sure he was aware since I did not know how the "reporting" process works. He responded within 30 secs and when he went to check on the report he said another Admin (Alexia) had already viewed them. Great job and thanks again to all admins for making CC the best forum on the interwebs!

Just a heads up to all members that there may be some "opportunists" that have found there way on to CC. I recently posted in the Wanted section of Classifieds that I was looking for OEM tow mirror arms. On April 10th I got a PM from a screen name I was unfamiliar with (entirely possible) suggesting I email a guy that had the part for sale. I asked if the seller was a member on CC or a friend of theirs, and their reply was they are a customer of the seller. Seemed a bit unusual and although I already had a few leads on getting this part I figured what the heck and emailed the guy if he still had one to sell. His replay was "do you have a budget for this and what are you willing to spend?". Uhh, red flag goes up and, wanting to see where this goes, I reply that I don't know, depends on what he wants for it? He replies with the same response, "what is my budget?". I figure it's someone trying to make max profit so I delete and move on. Then last night, roughly 2 weeks later, I get another PM from a different screen name suggesting I email someone who has the part I need. The email was different but the same in that the address used the same names just rearranged. I did not reply, but my red flag is farther up the pole. About an hour ago, I get a 3rd PM, different screen name and somewhat different email to contact. Now I go to each screen name's profile and see that in each case they had just joined CC within an hour of sending the message. I did not respond to the last two messages and I have reported the messages to Pete to take care of. That said, I'm hoping these scammers are long gone but just a reminder if something seems out of the ordinary, follow your gut. Finding parts can be hard and getting a good deal can be harder, so as I have reminded myself after this, hunt with all your senses on keen alert.

Exactly. Nice build that looks like someone ran out of steam and money at the same time. -
$25k MJ w/6.0

Agreed. Hell, for $25k I'd want to be able to pick it up and go enter it in a car show. And win! -

LOL, that's about the size of the one I bought for $18, Gearwrench XL 10mm -
Looks super nice but AFTER you drop $25k on this you still need a transfer case and driveshafts to complete the 4x4 setup. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/517558335602569/

What a pain in the neck.....and back...and knuckles
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in The Pub
I broke down and bought an extra long 10mm wrench to finally get in there. Socket was too difficult to get on or engage and my regular 10mm was too short even with the seat removed and knee panel dropped down. The XL wrench finally made getting the nuts off not TOO difficult, but still a slow process. It was threading the nuts back on that shredded my hands and had me contorted like a sideshow at the circus! Glad it's overwith LOL -
Today I finally swapped in the 89/90 ECM I bought a while ago. Fortunately I could tell a worthwhile difference over the OE '88 unit because MAN what a pain that thing is to get to! While I'm only 5'7" I carry a substantial more weight than I should which makes all the bending and twisting to get in position to access that thing that much more uncomfortable. Pudgy hands don't maneuver that well in that tight space also, they're all chewed up!

Fuel Injector Retaining Clips
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Happy to report the ones I found and ordered from AutoZone are the correct size. Brand is GP Sorensen, owned by Standard Motor Products and made here in the good ole U.S. of A. A bit pricey but comes 8 to a box and I could not find these type of clips ANYWHERE else on the interwebs. Part #800-9417. Pic shows one of the ones I replaced with the wraparound "retainer hooks" broken off and a new one.
