Yes, Rotella T6 is available at WalMart, usually around $23-25 for a 5qt jug. Typically a few bucks more at Advance but it is also often on sale to compete with Wally's prices. It is crazy about the number of oil specs there are available. My daily is a european car, my wife's daily is an Asian car, and then the MJ. My car calls for either 5w30 or 0w30 initially but supports 5w40 or 0w40 for higher mileage and operating environment. Euro cars have some very specific certifications they want in their oils, mainly to support long change intervals, so they strongly encourage "european formulas" with LL1 specs. I put Syntec 0w40 Euro spec in it just this past weekend from a couple cycles of LiquiMoly 5w40. My wife's car calls for 5w20 to supposedly help fuel economy. I have bumped to 5w30 since it now has 135k and the mpg's are the same. Plus it only holds 4.5qts (whereas my car, like the MJ, holds 6) so I just feel more comfortable with a little heavier oil in it at this point.

Team Cherokee timely response?
WahooSteeler replied to 87MJJeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I must be super lucky. I have bought from them at least 10 times and I think I had an issue one time. I vaguely recall having a hard time communicating with someone, but all other orders were fine, one other may have been slow shipping. Ordered a few things last week and got them Monday. -
I'll add that since "best oil to use" is an often discussed topic, a year or two ago on here someone posted a very thorough study that was done comparing a very wide variety of oils and what their chemical makeup was. I don't know if this study came from Bobtheoilguy.com or somewhere else, but, again, it seemed to cover every measurable of each oil. Long story short, Rotella T6 had the best makeup and performance characteristics for the Renix era 4.0L. High levels of ZDDP, proper detergents, high heat capacity and high shear strength. I'm not an engineer, but it was clear T6 checked all if not most of the boxes. I've been running 15w40 spring through fall and 5w40 in the winter since it gets pretty cold here. I'm a fan of Castrol having used it in my cars for years, but T6 is less than half the price of Syntec 5w50 and by the study I referenced here I am confident T6 is damn good for my Renix 4.0L.

And I think you were the one that recommended it on a thread a few years ago. You can order from Advanced Auto, but you do have to specify the Edge "Syntec", Part #152C6F. Just "Edge" 5w50 appears to be formulated for 4cyl turbos.
-
You can still get Castrol Edge Syntec in a 5w50 that is formulated for "classic cars" as it says on the bottle and if you research it, it's noted that it has substantial levels of zinc.

Fyi.....placed my order on the 24th and package was delivered yesterday. No problems........

I was doing "inventory" on parts today with intent to sell what I don't want or need anymore and pulled 2 sets out of my shed. I went to fixed windows several years ago. Let me inspect them and get back to you with pics etc if you are interested. IIRC, my pass side was fine, I bought the extra set to repair the driver side then changed my mind after I got my A/C repaired and went to the fixed style LOL.

Rubicon Wheels on MJ?
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I like the Icons on a stock MJ but not aggressive looking enough for my taste on lifted rigs with 31s or larger. Plus, they are 16" wheels and the real point of my post was about 17" wheels since if I ever change out my Ravines, I would definitely do 17s because there are so many more choices for both wheels and tires. -

Yup, I like them a lot. Look good on most any Jeep IMO. And affordable. -
Rubicon Wheels on MJ?
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Funny that while I only like Rubicon Moabs on 97+ Cherokees (as far as recent style wheels on older Jeeps), I really like Quadratec's Rubicon Extremes and think they would look very good on MJs/XJs. Just the subtle difference of having some detail on the spokes and a little more offset. They are similar to Mammoth Boulders which I also really really like. SCguy has them on his MJ and they look excellent IMO. The Boulders look like a cross between the Rubicon Extremes and AEV Pintlers https://www.quadratec.com/p/quadratec/rubicon-xtreme-wheel-5x5/gun-metal-gray-wrangler-jk-jl-gladiator-jt https://www.extremeterrain.com/mammoth-boulder-charcoal-17-9-J100615.html -

Rubicon Wheels on MJ?

Smokey, I agree the current OE wheels need more offset. Not a fan of Moabs on an MJ either, yet I do think they look good on 97+ XJs. -
Rubicon Wheels on MJ?

Were you trying to post a picture? -
Starting to see more and more OE Gladiator parts for sale as people are modding these rigs right off the lot. LOTS of Rubicon wheel sets and suspension pieces out there, and prices are coming down. Curious if anybody has put a set of these wheels on their MJ and/or have a picture of one they can share. I'm pretty sure I saw a picture recently but can't remember where. I love my 15" Ravines and how they look on an MJ. Most of the modern OE wheels look out of place on an MJ to me, but it also depends on the overall look of the truck and sometimes it jives with me. Hell, I've got a set of Turbines waiting to be cleaned up that I've considered swapping to. All that said, it seems clear that 17's are definitely the most common wheel on Jeeps now and there are a ton of tire sizes available on 17's. There are some super cheap deals on wheels and/or tires out there as new owners are immediately doing substantial upgrades on tires and suspension. After dropping $50-60k on a Rubicon and another $6-10k on mods, I'm seeing several listings with the "just get it out of my garage" pricing on it. Earlier today I saw a set of 4 online with only a claimed 1000 miles on them for $250. For that kind of price it's tempting to grab a set "just in case" for later. Pics are the standard Rubicon wheel and the other one is a Mopar Performance Parts wheel that I think would look awesome on an MJ.

paint advice for trim/bumpers
WahooSteeler replied to 87MJJeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Have you tried chrome cleaner/polish for the windshield and grill/header panel? Like Eagle One Never Dull? -
Up to you Aidan, but as noted above by Pete the ZJ drag link has a slightly different geometry and has had reports of binding and other issues. Late model XJs had the beefier drag link same diameter as the ZJ V8 version and has the same geometry as your MJ. Moog DS1238 is the part number for that. ZJ tie rod and trackbar work great, although I am of the same feeling as AZJeff on the track bar, not a fan of the OE frame side mount so it's worth considering a good aftermarket unit that also comes with the frame side bracket to replace the factory design.

I just placed an order, paid through Paypal..........we'll see.

LOL.......agree 100%, I get the two of them backwards all the time when recommending to others. Had to do the same just now before I posted LOL!!
