  1. Completely restored 87 4cyl Sport Truck.......with factory mismatched interior colors, Dunnowhatkind Leather Bench Seat, rear window wiper/washer, and recap tires! A steal at only $10k!!! LMAO https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/813837749/overview/?aff=atempest&utm_source=AutoTempest&utm_medium=TRP&utm_campaign=atempest
  2. Ohhhh the comments that could be made!
  3. This one has been out there for awhile, originally $7k. Looks super nice, I would think at $5k someone would pick this up soon.
  4. Holy cow! 40 footer? Those trailer tires are showing a bit of deflection, and even scarier is that it's being pulled by a Trailblazer!!
  5. Can you post the part # and where you got the new ballast resistor?
  6. I remembered it about 75% right. This guy cut out the top part of the MJ roof before fabbing in the new sheetmetal and the "spoiler" effect was where it met the taller back of the MJ roof line. You probably already saw this thread a while ago and/or while doing your research. I thought it was pretty slick.
  7. I remember seeing a crew cab MJ taking the same approach as you, and the MJ roof "portion" was only the last 6-8 inches, basically cut off at the B-pillar. The XJ roof ended a couple inches in front of the MJ cut and then they fabbed in a transition piece from the XJ roof to the MJ roof, and the cool part was it created an almost spoiler-like effect to the back of the roof with the raised MJ section. I'll go down the rabbit hole and see if I can find a picture.
  8. Super cool project I'll be watching closely. Definitely belongs in the Epic Build section!
  9. Best bet is to scour FB marketplace and craigslist constantly, something will show up with a reasonable price but still make take a couple of weeks
  10. Like anything, lots of variables depending on what you want for sound, what your budget is and if the truck your daily. I have a very simple setup in mine and I'm quite pleased, and even surprised, at the sound. I have a high power 4 channel Pioneer head unit, JBL 5.25" door speakers, and a Bazooka 6.5" dual voice coil sub that fits neatly behind the passenger seat and does not impede seat movement at all. The key to this setup is the head unit. First, you can run the rear channels as a mono sub amp with a 2 ohm load, providing 70 watts. Doesn't sound like much, but the 2 ohm load makes a difference and that little tube can produce a surprisingly hard hit. The 8" dvc Bazooka would fit just as easily and certainly give more thump. The other key is the head unit has a high pass filter to work with the subwoofer setting. I have the cutoff set at 80hz on mine but with some songs adjust it to 100 or even 125hz. Point being, with the high pass filter I can fine tune the sound with only bass frequencies going to the sub and the mids and highs going to the door speakers. You may already know all the technical stuff, just pointing it out in case you are not familiar with it. And I'm sure other stereo brands besides Pioneer have similar capabilities. What I really liked about this setup, for me, was it did not require mounting and powering an amp. While not a big deal to do that, it's a clean and simple setup that gives me all the sound I need.
  11. I will say in response to my original comments of Moabs on MJs, I DO think they can look good when blacked out and against a dark paint and possibly other combinations, but I am very picky about them still. Oh well.......
  12. Eaglescout, sorry to report I do not have rear bumper end caps. I have 2! sets of front bumper caps. Sorry......
  13. LOL, just kidding on the title! Anyhoo, I've been wanting to try a mod to the cup holder that screws in to the center console on MJ/XJs in front of the storage compartment. As anybody that has one of these knows, it is very shallow and even a regular soda can easily tips over, not to mention an errant elbow will definitely do the trick. I had bought one of the side mount cupholders that clip on to the passenger side of the center console, but they are also very shallow and there's not exactly a ton of leg room to begin with, so that never worked for me either. Today I finally broke out the Dremel and cut this bad boy up, I ain't a'skeert'd! My approach was to make one of the holders ideal for soda cans, adult beverages and the like. The other holder I wanted to be able to hold a tall cup like coffee, restaurant soda cups and plastic tumblers. While it's not the prettiest (although I gave a quick shot of Fusion Satin Black), it appears this may be successful. The real trick will be bouncing around in the truck, but I think it's going to hold drinks in place finally. The "can" side I just cut out the bottom including where the sidewalls begin to curve in to the bottom. With just a little push, the can slides through the bottom but snugly holds in place. The plastic is very thin of course, so I may have been able to even leave a little of the curve, or flare, on the outer edge of the bottom for an even tighter fit as I believe the "flare" would flex. Worst case just trim it back to where I have it now. But it feels snug enough as I have it now that a can is going to stay in place. The "cup" side I cut out the bottom and the original sidewall. This allows a large cup to drop in far enough until the cup widens near the top and holds it in place, low and snug. The "can" side will hold a tall narrow cup also, sitting higher though, but you can therefore have 2 "cup" drinks in place at once. The "cup" side is too big for a regular can, so I'll be limited there, but I like the versatility of the dual sizes. I'll report back when I get it remounted and "tested" lol, but my center console is out of the truck at the moment.
  14. His daily MJ before he went to a KJ had a 3.4, and I thought he may have done a 3.8 in one of his other MJs, or at least talked about it.
  15. Biggest "bug shield" I've ever seen on a motorcycle!!!
  16. Didn't somebody on here do a GM 3.8?
  17. LOL......ok, I'm game. I've got 1 in my driveway, and it's licensed, registered and driveable. So that's 2 out of 3, @67%, so we're now at 147k MJ's on the road. Next question?
  18. A viable debate no doubt. But in the 12yrs I've owned my MJ, I have routinely monitored the market for MJs being sold over Ebay, Craigslist and FB, and I mean a minimum of 3-4 times PER WEEK! If it was a 4 digit number of road-worthy trucks, I would argue that we would see a large number of them being sold over and over. I would also argue that more and more are being pulled from the weeds that were parked years ago and are being made road-worthy. If your estimate is <10k and mine is >50k, using the "rule of half" again, that would put us as @30k MJs on the road. I still think it's higher than that, but maybe number is our compromise LOL!
  19. A few thousand? Half may be optimistic, but "a few thousand" is extraordinarily unrealistic. I have found over the years on most things like this in guesstimating a number, 1/2 of 1/2 or 1/2 of original estimates is usually a fair assessment. A "few thousand" I compute as less than 10,000. NO WAY..........NO WAY, there is only 10k roadworthy MJs on the road. 1/2 of 1/2 would be @50k vehicles. We can agree to disagree, but that is a more realistic number to me than <10k.
  20. I have recently done inventory on parts I had buried in the shed for the last 12yrs. I "THINK" I have rear bumper end caps, I will confirm this weekend.
  21. I believe total production was in the 220k+/-, Pete and some others could verify, and I agree the 1/2 approach is generously appropriate. That said, an extra 20k of potential prospects, times 1/2 again, 10k, is not a bad number to work with. All the more reason I believe if they bring something to market it won't be a true repop but a metal housing that has a pretty solid fit. Also, if Key Parts is mostly in to body panels and other replacement parts, they may be willing to take the chance on offering a replacement to a limited quantity and hard to find part that will be a lead in to other sales, i.e. it's the $19.99 oil change that gets you in the door for the up-sale. Not everything a vendor sells is a moneymaker, and every retailer is always looking for that competitive advantage. As I said before, even an aftermarket alternative would be a welcome option to MJ owners, IMO.
  22. They really are nice. Saw an XJ in town the other day with the Quadratec Rubicon Extreme's in black, like them a helluva lot too.
  23. Based on this info, maybe it's more along the lines of what Rusty's attempted, i.e. a metal housing with LED lights. A true OEM repop is what everybody would want, but even a viable "plug and play" replacement such as this might be is a welcome option to most MJ owners I would bet.
