Overload spring removal
87manche replied to Bounty Hunter's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm going to have to take a picture of my leaf springs. I've got a big one at the bottom that looks odd. Perhaps someone installed a helper spring. -
Lookie here, Cabz new Rollbar
87manche replied to Drahcir495's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
that just makes me sad. Seeing how that one mounts just confirms that at one time I did have a facotry rollbar, and now it's gone, leaving only three screws in the fender wells as evidence. -
OEM slave cylinder vs. Aftermarket
87manche replied to clarkerussell's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
ask yourself in a year when you're pulling the trans to put in a new slave ;) -
long bed or shortbed? Long bed is going to tow things better because of the wheelbase. I had a Reese hitch on mine, before I cut it off. I think that drawtite also makes one, but it's for the longbed only. I think you're going to have trouble finding a hitch of any sort for the SWB.

exactly, I'd like to see how it mounts. I got a friend that works for a local company with a big hydraulic computerized sheetmetal bender. So If I give him measurements he can bend me one out of 3/16" plate. On my LWB there's some studs that hang down from the gas tank straps. I assume that's how the skid mounts, but I'd like to see a pic

Aftermarket rear bumper
87manche replied to Indyjeepnut's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
CW, I really like that, would certainly help my departure angle, and I could cut the bottom out of the bed and bend the tube under the corner for rear sliders. How did you attach it to the frame? -
New to the club, heres the comanche
87manche replied to STROKERMJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
so, Eagle sold that to you... Did he know what you were going to do with it? :D It's real nice, but I'm sure he's broken hearted that you're going to molest it on the trail. -
Aftermarket rear bumper
87manche replied to Indyjeepnut's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78285 from ugly to not so ugly, with measurements it's still ugly, but that's the first thing I've ever made out of metal. -
Could also be that they're the same injectors, and that the HO's just run higher pressure in the rail. I'd do it, you can always build a MAP adjuster if it runs rich, then you can tweek your mixture to your heart's content. Here's Marcus' writeup on making your own. http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoMAPsensor.htm Plan on going that route when I build the stroker

renix injectors are right at 19Lb. The popular swap is 19Lb injectors from a ford 5.0 motor. More nozzles, better atomization and dirt cheap. http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injector_Sets.html the prevailing place most people order from. I'm planning on junkyarding a set from a newer stang. Gotta be better than the OEM ones I've got now.

Aftermarket rear bumper
87manche replied to Indyjeepnut's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
http://www.rockratz.com/ really expensive. I looked at it and just made my own. Having a real frame in the back is pretty easy to attach too. -
ok. I cut the rollpan off pretty clean with the grinder. So you should be able to weld it back on pretty easily. I did do some damage to the bondo on the bottom when it dropped off the truck, just a little mud work and it will be fine. I'll get pics when you PM me.
-
eagle, can you get pics of the stock gas tank skid plate? I'd like to see how it's attached, I need one of those. Do you still want this rollpan, it's taking up space in my garage.
-
that sucks. Pounding in a hard torx bit is probably your best bet then.
-
depends on the spline count. it changed a few times. It's going to be 21 or 23. You'll need to verify what you've got.
-
I left mine on just so it would keep mud and such out of the alt. More of a splash gaurd than skid plate.
-
how you going to build your rear bumper? http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78285 that's how mine ended up looking. It's ugly, but strong.
-
if the torx screw is stripped you might want to try cutting a slot across the top and using a flat screwdriver to get it out.

Roll bar in Florida pic-n-pull
87manche replied to Drahcir495's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
if you need any help wiring that cargo lamp I can take a look at mine. It's a switch like the fog lamps, lighs up all nice when you turn it on. THe connector should be behind the dash. Farthest switch plate to the left. -
there's a writup on naxja about a durango box. My brother just did it in his XJ.

3.07s with 31's suck, I'm running it till I do a rear 8.8 They will rub at full lock The rears will rub the frame rail if you air them down and stuff them, no big deal, nothing sharp back there to cut them. I wheeled at WF with 31's, didn't have any rubbage up front, I think it tok only oe washer under the steering stop to solve full lock.

http://jeepin.com/features/nss/index.asp look there for NSS cleaning Verify that you do have an AW4, I think most 2.5's came with torqueflites.
