Hydroboost Hydroboost Hydroboost...sorry could not resist. What I REALLY want to do. But well I already work TWO jobs.
-
It still will on so many factors. Prep. Application. Application environment. And, how bad is your driving environment? To do it truly correctly it will require 4-5 base coats, at least 3-4 color coats, and then clear coats ( somewhat optional). Now all this is just based on my research. I have only fully dipped wheels. Mine current Moabs have been dipped over a year with zero issues. Ready to try the entire truck but waiting on some additional body armor to arrive.

Silicone on Intake/Exhaust manifold gasket?
ScottJeep replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just old school I guess but I've always sprayed them down with copper spray-a-gasket. Then while still just a bit tacky torque everything down. It's just the way I was taught and it has never failed/cause me any issues. -
Well.... I actually have a rebuildable unit in my storage room. My plan was to use it for my CJ5. Have now had foot surgery on both feet and think I can actually do fine with my now-planned hydraulic clutch. Not sure if you are only looking local but thought I would throw it out there.

Used the Quadratec bottle when I was running the closed system. Even after replacing it with a new one it cracked. Have been using the 2.5 style bottle shown with my open system. Works fine. I have a cowl induction cold air so the 2.5 fits perfectly where the 4.0 air box was previously with LOTS of room to spare.

Thanks Don makes perfect sense. Tend to overthink stuff like that after dealing with technology for other people all day. Need to test the ones in my parts bin.

Hmmmmm not to jump too far into the OP issue. What/how is the sensor tested?
-
Well I could repost from my previous. Have all the parts in the garage (which looks like a bomb went off ). My world is just crazy right now and I have acquired all the parts for my 4WD conversion so the work stopped on moving forward 2WDwise.

Tail light Seperation?
ScottJeep replied to TheDirtyJeep401's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've heated and cut to finish the separation of old units before "refurbishing" prior to sale. Used a clear waterproof RTV from HD to glue them back together. This was after a three step wet sand and 5 coats of clear. Take your time it can and has been done. -
What Front Bumper Is This?
ScottJeep replied to ScottJeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
See... THIS THIS is why this forum ROCKS! But we all already knew that. And I am pretty sure the rear bumper is a Nate's 4X4 rear bumper minus D Ring mounts. It's my current rear bumper. And while I'm just feeding our Jeep lists....got this little tidbit in my email yesterday.... Short-Box Comanche Rocker Guards By high demand, we have introduced a Short-Box version of our popular MJ Comanche Rocker Guards this month! Protect your vulnerable rocker panels with armor from Nates4x4.com. More information at http://www.nates4x4.com/product_p/mj_sb_rg.htm AND I still have my 4WD conversion parts AND the WJ Akebono brake upgrade parts sitting in the garage. 3rd job ends in July so 5 hours a day back soon! -
What Front Bumper Is This?

Not yet.... Figured asking the experts was better than a used car dealer. LOL -
Awesome looking MJ... REALLY like that front bumper. Not one I can ID. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Comanche-Base-Standard-Cab-Pickup-2-Door-/272265959579?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3f6450d89b:g:N6cAAOSwvg9XVWk6&item=272265959579

Windshield Replacement options
ScottJeep replied to skidoo_j's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Put a piece of '98 glass in my prior MJ with the newer style rubber gasket. Liked how it turned out. $35 windshield from the local Pull-A-Part and used a local "independent installer" (where I work). They supplied a new style gasket and installed for ~$80.00 Most places around here ( ATL ) are like $225 and up. Warranty is an important factor and while desired guess the guy seen in my mirror is just too damn cheap. -

Have referenced the build thread a couple of times. Makes me miss my white XJ. And really love to see a truck get used. Well deserved! -

Yes, I do (most days ) like mine..well REALLY just the sound it makes..until it is time to change the oil. Tube covers the filler cap, which has to be modded. http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-01-Jeep-Cherokee-XJ-SPECTRE-9948-COLD-AIR-INTAKE-Discontinued-/172217376110?fits=Make%3AJeep%7CModel%3ACherokee&hash=item2818f49d6e:g:SLEAAOSwH6lXQ6Hn&vxp=mtr

Anyone close to Atlanta? Need some help.
ScottJeep replied to crs88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well...I'm on the other side of town... but it's 3 jobs until mid-July for me so sorry but it's tough ( 10 years since the last summer vacation...my family barely knows my name ). Have always been in the same situation wife + 3 and NONE ever really wanted to help. Ended up buying myself the Motive Bleeder unit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mvp-0252?seid=srese1&gclid=CPfp2dW52MwCFdcagQodgYMPHg and do it all myself. There are also several other products out there: http://www.toolplanet.com/product/Brake-Bleeding-Vacuum-PumpKit-40519?vfsku=RR40519&gpla=pla&gclid=CK3Swq652MwCFdgHgQodh1kBVA http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/77A5485A3714372.aspx?kc=ffproduct&k_clickid=14a28950-c116-4a3b-bc71-08b32e09a1ce&adgroupid=5399&k_trackingid=274x72466073888&kpid=5485-3714372&productid=72466073888&gclid=COq8zr252MwCFYY2gQodoWsMFg Sometimes the investment in the tool pays off repeatedly. -
Comanche broke down-help!
ScottJeep replied to Axeminister's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just my experience once. Replaced battery, starter and checked over TONS of other stuff. Ended up being a battery cable that when finally removed don't know how it ever worked. BUT, you could not see it until you completely removed the cable. -

# of wires & colors? Just a thought but where does the wiring for the center console lighting go/come from? Both the center console transmission selector and transfer case have lights as well.
-
And yeah, it is a TOTAL PITA to deal with that thing under the truck. The three times I've messed with the tanks/pumps/sending units I've ended up dropping the tank instead of the continued fight. For me I think I saved time and did a better job in the end. Good Luck!

Purchased the NATES myself. http://www.nates4x4.com/Comanche_Rear_Bumper_p/mjr.htm Got it during a "tis the season" sale time... pleased with it. Have even used it to haul a 10' trailer LOADED with CJ5 Frame & Tub, with the bed of my truck loaded to the brim as well.

Direct Mount Coolant Temperature Gauge
ScottJeep replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's cool! Hmmmmm....that fitting in the thermostat housing is calling to me now. Recently went open with the 4cyl overflow bottle so while I have a ton of room on the driver's side no extra spot on my radiator.
