  1. I did, in fact, get a local guy to bleed the clutch and reinstall the driveshaft with new U-joint for only $75.
  2. Yep. No bushing on yours either. Tells me it was this way from the factory. Thanks, man. Tell me...when you pulled that shifter it was in neutral, right? Was the slot perfectly centered in the top of the transmission? Mine is kind of off-center to the left.
  3. Thanks. I think I have an unused bung in the radiator that would work well for this.
  4. Could you post the links to both of those items? My gauge is inactive and I would rather have something like this anyway.
  5. Anyone have a pulled BA trans that they could take a look at for me? I'm having trouble lining up the gears when I'm shifting, but I don't think that it's the trans going bad.
  6. I had a ton of slop in the shifter and when I pulled it to take a look, there is no bushing at the end of the shifter where it enters the transmission. It is flat at the end and goes into a notch, but I would think that a bushing would have been in place to avoid that slop and metal on metal contact. Yes? Anyone have any insight or the same issue at some point?
  7. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/5543926040.html Pretty sure there is $500 worth of parts on the truck as it sits. Or finish it as a DD.
  8. Sold for $1600. More than it was sold for brand-new.
  9. I'm in Powder Springs, GA, and I need some help bleeding my new clutch slave. I'm by myself and my wife pretty much does not want to help with this because of her complete lack of mechanical skills. If you are available (pretty much anytime, you make the call) I could really use your expertise/help. I'll be happy to compensate you (gas money, beer, lunch money, etc.) and you can know that you helped out a fellow MJer. Thanks, Chuck
  10. I have never been disappointed in NGK with any of their products...and I have used plenty of them. They are well built and are long-lasting. I'd spend the extra $.
  11. I had "alligator" seat belt latches like those in my old Saab. It may be a Scandinavian market requirement.
  12. What size Torx did they end up being?
  13. In my Mj it does not appear to be a seperate harness... I don't see the connectors to plug in the AW4 plugs. It appears to all be part of the body harness on the 88 XJ I'm using as a donor. Any help? Do i really need to swap the whole Harness? I will have to correct myself. The transmission harness is part of the engine bay harness...NOT part of the dash harness. the tranny computer harness is also part of the engine bay harness. it enters the firewall on the passenger side behind and to the pass. side to the rear of the engine. the TCU is located under the knee board. to do an aw4 TO 5 speed swap, you do not need to replace the harness...you can splice the trans harness connectors together, and swap the ECU and remove the TCU. however, you cannot do a 5 speed TO auto swap without swapping the entire engine harness, or doing some heavy duty wiring to install wires that simply don't exist in the 5 speed harness. So if I am reading this you need the entire engine harness to switch from a BA10/5 manual trans to a AW-4 auto trans? If so what donor should I go with? Am I stuck with '87-'90 XJ's and MJ's? Or can I use parts up to say 1998? I thought the TCU was a stand alone harness and didn't have to be wired into the factory engine harness. I am looking for a donor automatic XJ so these questions are very important. Help please?? How did you end up doing this? I have an '88 with the BA10 and I want to swap in an AW4 from the same year or earlier. Is it as difficult as I'm reading?
  14. Have you had any issues (poor performance) with the EGR disconnected?
  15. Thanks, yxmj. I've done this many times with other cars, but you never know when a manufacturer will throw you a curve ball about towing one of their vehicles.
