Do a search on the net... I know there is a class of racing for 4 cyl at the local dirt track, so I am sure there are plenty of ways to get some serious power out of them. Keep in mind the 2.5 has been sold for yrs... and came in just about every configuration possible.... I even had one in a Fiero... that car was way fast even though all it had was a 4 popper

BY cut off I mean engine stops running, then I pop the clutch and she starts right back up. So far it seems that it could be either the IAC, or he fuel pump.... at least that is what I kinda figured before too, just don't want to through parts at a problem if I am not sure what it is. Time to go buy a new tool .... fuel pressure tester :D

Well I have beat my head against the wall trying to figure this out. Ride is a 90 my with 2.5 and a 4 spd the issue is it will just cut off while driving. so far it has only happened when I let off the gas, but she runs fine at idle, so far I have done an ignition tune up. I really don't know much about the rig, but It appears to have had the intake and head off, for what reason I do not know. She does burn oil ( know this by she smokes a lil, and has a anti fouling plug thing on it) any help would be appreciated... the wife likes this ride, and if I don't figure it out soon.. I will be selling it

Pong is on hold til I fnd an industrial junk yard I can raid for parts :brows: I did buy a sweet lil 90 SWB with a 2.5 and a 4 spd... but I am still trying to diagnose a problem with it. It just cuts off when driving  Yeah jeff came by and got a basically complete renix 4.0 I had stashed in the back of my garage... don't know why I had the complete motor and frame mounts back there... but it was there  Hopefully I will get more time to check in once in a while... but burning the candle at both ends is getting me ahead a lil

Laptop Mount Installed - PICS!
pingpong replied to LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thats awesome... I got one of the lower end vehicle GPS systems for my rig... and love it. Yeah it don't have all the bells and whistles like the higher units, but works great. If I had a lap top... I would have did what you did  -

31s with only 2" of lift?
pingpong replied to 500-comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This is kinda a trick question... You can fit 31's with no lift.. just remember not all tires are the size they say they are. As for rubbing... anything bigger then stock is going to rub at full stuff and hard turning unless you adjust your steering stops. I have fit 33's on 2" but had almost no up travel.. then again I fit a set of 31's on a XJ with no lift/ trimming tires were more like a tall 30" -
I wouldnt... it will seal in moisture. Personally.. I would remove all the bad metal and make a patch panel... Use sheetmetal screws to fasten said panel in.. then find a "jeeping" buddy with a flux core welder.. and have him weld. remove one screw.. place a tack.. you wil find you might be able to get help if all the hard work is done

inside of the MJ combo brake valve
pingpong replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am not sure how the auctual valve works in the rear. I wondered about it.. then I decided it was just easier to do away with it. and only have one brake line to worry about rotting :brows: -
The design of where the alt is, makes it prone to the failure you describe. I suppose with a lot of work and research you can find a way to relocate it to the top. Personally I wouldn't buy one of them fancy expensive alternators cause of the design. Find a 140 stock alternator... that has a similar mounting patern.. and swap it out... also get the life time warranty

1 piece axle conversion for 86 d30?
pingpong replied to Scott86mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
thats the correct way.. there is an easier way if it is a through away rig.... you can put a seal in the outer part of the vacum disconnect housing. I got the seal number somewhere. -

YUP.... she needs a new home.. call a domestic violence hotline.. she has been abused and shown no love in a while

Alternator is going bad. Get what ever one you want.. just make sure it is a NEW one. Also if you get it from advance be prepared to replace often. Remember not to overtighten the sepertine belt as it will cause premature failure, of the bearings in the alt

compression readings and oil loss...
pingpong replied to dfreeman616's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like you need a valve job, and rings. New bearings wouldn't hurt. Also verify that you really are only seeing that low oil pressure with a mechanical gauge... -
I did a SYE and a new driveshaft, and when I welded on the perches I put the pinion pointed at the t-case output. It all depends on how much money you have to spend on what will work best for you.

Bleeding my brakes all at once?
pingpong replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yup and they work like a charm. just make sure you do one tire at a time.. furthest first... then so on and so forth. I needed to different sizes on my rig... fronts were different from the rear. Best to take a bleeder out from the front and rear.. and bring them down to the store. There are 2 possible choices front and rear, and thats if no one changed the parts. -
