  1. Man I have had so many D/A moves... Like drilling a hole in my gas tank  or cutting my brake line with the plasma cutter  You are not the only one cursed by the 4 letter J word
  2. I like the axle holders... but why keep D35 laying around.. unless they are being used for boat anchors :brows:
  3. I might have a few parts to fix it ;) To me it looks all superficial...Might have to cut here and there and make a new front x-memeber.. but would be complete and stronger. I know I got a grille and condensor.. and a clutch fan ;) Might have a few other things as well
  4. Rigs always flex better when it is forced...Ideally you want about 2" of shaft left at max flex (sitting on bump stops). Also keep in mind as parts are flexed and used they soften, and flex normally increases.
  5. I remember when I was doing my truggy project on pong and running an inline fuel pump... that there were 2 fuel pressure for the fuel pumps... don't rmemeber what the yr break was... Call a napa and ask them.. they should be able to tell you what the working pressure is for your motor, and the pumps you have

Well things are progressing rapidly. Go the interior gutted :D then found out that I had a nice spot of rust I needed to fix... no biggie. Broke the plasma out.. and started to remove said offending metal. Well I was careful to make sure I didnt buzz the frame.. but some how I clipped the brake line  after realising it wasnt the gas line :clapping: I said a few 4 letter words  but got the patch temporarily in place while I decide to make it permanent.. or to use expanded metal there instead  I also got a few parts in.... One of them was a D44 Alloy USA shafts from Drivetrtain Wharehouse. Well The box looked like it had been drug and dropped everywhere it went  So since it was dropped shipped.. I opened it up (couldnt refuse it), and low and behold I am missing parts :headpop: The bearings are gone  and my shafts have a nice layer of dust :headpop: instead of oil. So I call up thier customer service.. come to find out this is the last set of D44 shafts they  So to make it right they are sending me a set of bearings  I should have them in 2 days, but we shall see :brows: ... Now to order a u-bolt yoke for the d44 and wait till my front shafts come in.. so I can start to build my axles. I will take pics next time I do any work.. didnt take any last time.

  10. Give him a site card and magnet too :brows:
  11. I would buy it just so I could build another trail beater
  12. I think You got a worn out bushing or something, that is causing it.
  13. I am sorry to hear that you guys out there have to go through all this crap to keep older rides on the road.... I am glad I don't :D
  14. I made my own "warm wair intake" using a cheap ricer cone filter.. 6" of 2.5 aluminized exhaust tubing, and 1 brass air chuck.. worked great.. excpet for the blow by collecting in it

    New guy

Welcome to the club... MY suggestions are stay off the tan couch.. beers in the fridge.... sit back and enjoy the happy place we have here. If you have questions ask.. everyone is friendly.... most of the time ;)
  16. Were you issued any tickets? If not file a claim with his insurance company. Unfortunately this will probrably take a long time to get his insurance company to pay to fix your truck. You might end up in small claims court to get your ride fixed. If it was my rig.. I would just cut off the damage and make the other side match :brows:

Nothing.. just my self imposed time limit... Think I might try and make a run to Tellico 4 july weekend, or maybe Rausch Creek.

    The Turd

Well a few PPl know I am trying to build a "cheap" beater rig by the 1 July. What I am looking for are pics of existing XJ cages (here is the catch) on XJ's with the back cut off. I have found a few.. but not many, and nothing that I really like yet. Build plans are D44and d30, 4.10's fronat and rear, lock rights front and rear, Alloy shafts...(got the rears, looking for ALLOY USA fronts), Trans is either going to be a np435,ax15, or an AW4 (leaning towards the np435, hoppe the guy works the trade with me). Some FX ricer seats.. 5 point harness. 44 days and counting till it needs to be done

    Score!!

I can totally relate.. If it wasnt for the wife letting me do a quick/cheap build on the Turd... I would be just working and saving.
  20. Have fun... and I hop it is a profitable weekend for you as well as a fun one
  21. pingpong

    Score!!

There a late 60's/early 70's one for sale around me... it has the slant six in it... only want 6 grand for it.. and it is a nice looking ride.

    Help

As far as I can tell the only way to get Superior axles is to go to 30 spline.. unfortuanely the lockright I bought (used) is 27 spline. I didnt think about Moser.. might try them next.

    Help

OK I am on a quest to find a company that has Alloy USA front shafts in stock. Every company I call says they are on back order  I would go with a set Of Yukon 4340, but I have allready broke a set of them  in the splines :headpop: so I want to try a "Better" company, and don't have the money for Warn shafts  ON another note... Performanceoffroadcenter has some good prices on parts. They were the cheapest on shafts. Another happier note... rear Chrom shafts for a XJ d44 are under 250 and comes with new bearings, and dual bolt patterns :D
  24. I can't tell you how many lifts I have done, and not gone to my fianl lift height to begin with. To me it depends if you need the rig a certain way by a certain time wether or not to do it. At the moment I am gethering parts wide open to Lock, cage, and Install chromo's front and rear on one of my rigs. Goal being to have it wheelable by July1. So far it looks like I am going to make it... but it won't be on the tires, or ride height It will be on ultimately. BUt I have all the other major components either on order or onsite.
  25. Thanks.... I got a set of thick gears.. so I will just uninstal the lock right in the other carrier and install my gears on the carrier I know it will work on... Installing lock rights isnt that hard.. especially when doing it on a bench
