  1. WOW.... by the sounds of it he might have some ring issues by the gas in the oil. The fact that the clutch fan is toasted.. means it probrably wasnt cooling at all. Also the fact that the radiator is probrably plugged up means no t cooling very well to begin with. I suggest a cooling pressure check, and a compresion check.
  2. Pete he needs a 1310 companion flange not a 1330 :smart: if he wants to re-use the stock driveshaft. Basically what you are going to want to do is remove old spring perches. Remove all paint from around where you are going to mount new perches. Center axle loosely mount spring plate, perch in position. set pinion angle tack in place, then set vehicle down on perches (make sure you are still happy with pinion angle) Weld perches in.. while you are at it.. using proper welding techniques weld tubes to the center section. This means preheating and using Hi-nickel rod, and controlled cooling. Decide how you are going to mount your shocks... this differs between LWB and SWB MJ's Then figure out e-brakes
  3. Thanks man.. that was kinda the answer I was looking for. Just not the one I wanted
  4. I was thinking that it might be a bad valve seal leaking out from in between the head and intake :dunno: Not many p[laces for oil to leak on the left side
  5. Normally the companies that sell you stuff won't know why it won't fit.. that is why I was hoping some one had more info on it.
  6. I think he meant to type NSS not sns :dunno:
  7. I know with all the junk yarding this group does, I am sure some one has come across a V-8 ZJ in the yard. Has anyone actually measured to see what the size difference is, or if there is one? Also is there cooiling system an open one? The reason why I ask is I am changing my setup over to a open setup and was wondering if the zj rad would fit, or if any knew why it wouldnt fit. My theory behind all of this is.. if it can cool a v-8 luxo cruiser... it can cool my beat down xj  Thanks
  8. A wj is a grand cherokee from 99? to 2004?. JY is a junk yard also referred to as a PNP which is pick a part
  9. Like you said.. first listen to the hum of the fuel pump. Then since its an automatic try moving the shifter around inpark, and nuetral to see if it will start.
  10. This isnt entirely true. A zj d35 setup will not bolt to non c clip d35, or a late 80's xj d44. :brows: I did the swap and it is a lil bit of work. With a lil creative thinking you might be able to get them to work on a waggy axle. Buy a retainer flange (part that bolts to the end of the housing), and set it against the backing plates for the ZJ discs. It might just be as simple as redrilling the backing plate to match the retainer. then you wil need to get a spacer cut to "take up" the spacethat the caliper has now. :smart:
  11. I think what he was trying to point out was the tj d44 still uses the d30 outer parts. Not sure though  To me the front driveshaft issue is going to be pinion angle vs. Caster angle :smart: I don't know if there is a way to compensate for that much difference with out having driveshaft issues. Anyone in the know care to comment :???:

  13. I am going to give you my  on building a d30. First reweld all mounts  then add 1/4 plate to the lower side. This prevents the common cause of mount seperation.. which ends trips at least for a lil while :brows: . Depedning on how you wheel, and what gears and tire size depends on the axleshaft choice. If under 33's get a set of 297's and wheel, carry a short side spare, upgrade joints to the 760 spicers and call it good. 34's and up.. buy a set of alloy shafts. I recommand Alloy Usa. You can get these with 760's or their special x-joint. This setup should deal well with up to 37's. Then you have the next upgrade you can do :smart: only gives d44 level strength and are priceier then the 27 spline alloys.. and that is the 30 spline ones... this requires a new locker with 30 splines. When I was driving to and from the trail I also use to like to reinforce the passenger side upper mount. I would do this by boxing the mount and adding lil trusses to the sides. Now since I wheel a 3 link I don't use that mount at all. Some ppl even ad gussets to the knuckles :dunno: might work.. might just be for looks. I have even seen ppl install an inverted truss (under the axle) to stregthen it.. to me it removes ground clearance. TNT offers a nice truss that goes on top of it. I wouldnt spend the money on it.. I would just install a d44 if it came to that. A few items for thought :smart: It is a d30 always remember that :smart: Besides axle shafts, and a locker thats al it deserves :huh???: don't be that guy :???: spending 1500-2k on a d30 when you could have built a d44 front with hi-steer  Lastly treat you axle like a turd :wall: and beat on it.. it will get the last laugh :brows:

  17. Adam, seems like a really nice product. Up till I seen your setup.. I only new of two other companies making"bolt on" SOA kits. One was Rocky road outfitters.. and the other was warrior products, but that was for a YJ setup and required some work. :smart: Might not be a kit for someone with welding skills, but it does address a bunch of issue That come up when doing the conversion. Like the fact that it still uses the factory shock location. I can't speak on this product, but I can speak on the customer service from Motion offrod. It is top notch

  19. Lockrights are what are called lunchbox lockers. Basically you pull the axleshafts, remove the spider gears and install said device. They are pretty strong, but there function can get on your nerves and takes a lil getting used to. The electric locker you are talking about is the Ected. Functions like a LSD in normal operation, bunt when engaged it acts lie any other locker. They require full gear setup procedures. As for whats stronger or better. Normally the ful carrier ones are better.

First to compare ectasy with Pot... thats a stretch  Getting caught with 50 pills means he was dealing.. should have gotten 10 yrs :brows: I want the ppl who are for pot smoking to look at some of the young ppl who smoke regularly. I want you to actually talk to them. Listen to how they sound. Ask them what they do for a living  ask them what their goals are  If you think pot is harmless... look at these young ppl and come talk to me. Most of them couldnt stand to loose the brain cells they just toasted to start with
