  1. The cab of the MJ was never changed. A windshield out of any XJ or MJ will fit in any XJ or MJ. Door glass is the same between all year MJs and 84-96 4 door XJs. Although there may be a difference between manual and automatic windows... not sure.
  2. You'll need an older(21 spline) one, from a an 87-90 XJ with an AW-4, but it should bolt up to your BA 10/5 just fine. Remember you'll also need the shift gate, bezel, and linkages for it. You'll also need to permanently lock your CAD. A CAD failure in 4wd with a 231 is an inconvenience, a CAD failure with a 242 in Full Time can be fatal to the case.
  3. The block itself should be the same for all those years... My brother's got a 91 4.0 in his 98 XJ and we had no problems dumping it in. I had to clean out a boss that was threaded but not used in 91, but that was it.
  4. Did you even TRY duct tape?
  5. :agree: Definitely don't wanna screw up THOSE bolts! They aren't just plain ole 8mm bolts My concern actually isn't for the bolts, but the CPS itself. Last time I dumped in a 4.0, I didn't pull the CPS first. I don't know when it broke, during removal or installation, but it didn't give any indication it was broken until I tried to fire it up and had zero spark. But yeah, those are use-specific shoulder bolts, don't wanna lose or break'm.
  6. I.... Approve.
  7. The AX-15 is hardly a one piece case... There's a whole thread in the DIY section on identifying the two.
  8. 2.5's a slightly different animal with the timing chain. It has a bit more slack than the 4.0, so it requires a tensioner, and those like to die. 4.0 doesn't have a tensioner. I'm not saying that couldn't be the noise, just throwing the information out there.
  9. Sadly, those are original. My 2.5 came with identical mirrors.
  10. Always have, and the instructions for that gasket still call for a dap of RTV at all 4 bends.
  11. As far a I know, the only difference is the CPS and possibly the O2 sensor.
  12. No, I'm cool with the hood vent. :wrench:
  13. It'd be great if it weren't for the paint, the rims, the height, and the probably-not-true-dual-exhaust.
  14. Can I nominate this thread?
  15. The strikers on the 97+ doors are different. I'm pretty sure you can simply swap them out, but hopefully someone who's done it will chime in.
  16. The 97-01 header panel will fit with the MJ fenders, but it'll require some trimming. IMO, if you have the header panel, fenders, and doors from the XJ, you should swap all of it and have it all match. It's gonna look a little funny with the newer header panel and the older fenders.
  17. I just went back the last 5 pages of the Tech section and The Pub. In the tech section, you'd started 3 threads. None of which had zero replies, and one of the had 77. Most threads do not get that big. In The Pub, you had two. One was a thread that has essentially been posted by other members at least three times, and it still got replies. The other one was you, basically complaining that you're not popular enough. You need to remember that, believe it or not, not everyone on this board knows everything. Not everyone is constantly logged in, and some of us are, quite frankly, sick of answering the same questions over and over when the information could be had instantly by simply searching and finding twenty previous threads on the subject. In reference to the 77 reply thread of yours, you may not be getting the answers you want because you don't take the advice that you're given. You were told countless times that putting used gears in an axle is a bad idea, is barely cheaper than getting new ones, yet you still pressed for it. You obviously haven't been on too many forums. CC is one of the nicest, well structured, and helpful sites I have ever been too. There's hardly any flaming, pretty much no trolling, and the mods keep everything in check. However, no matter how good it is here, there's no way for instant gratification, and not everyone can simply know the answer to your question. Nobody is paid to help out here. This isn't anybody's job. And if you're going to complain about not getting enough free help, then you may stop getting any, altogether.
  18. It's not a good idea to leave the CPS on when pulling or installing the trans anyway. They break very, very easily.
  19. They did change stuff in 92. The input shaft tip for the AX-15 was changed in 92, some of the plugs were changed in 92, which gives the 91 its own f&^#ing CPS.
  20. 91 is electric. It's moot, anyway. The electric and mechanical senders interchange.
  21. No problem. I'm all for throwing an AX-15 behind a 4 popper, but for reasons more along the lines of "I've killed 5 AX-5s crawling on rocks, I need something beefier", or "I'm bored, I wanna see if I can do it." For a truck you just wanna fix and drive, another AX-5 is just easier, and they're not all that hard to find.
  22. If you go through Missouri on the way, don't be a stranger. :wavey:
