  1. It's a constant whining, usually shows up once I get above 20 mph. The faster I go, the higher pitched it gets, and the louder it gets. When I checked the trackbar for slop(before I bought it), it was perfectly fine. I had Jo sit in it while running, I got under and had her move the wheels lock to lock several times, and there was no slop anywhere. I haven't directly checked the rear swaybar, but when I had the back tires off to check the brakes, nothing looked out of the ordinary. Tomorrow I might dissemble the rear brakes and put them back together... maybe that'll tell me what's going on. Might even go far enough to pull the unit bearings off the front. I'd rather not pull the diff covers, but I think I might have to.
  2. I haven't, but I do have some Barry White on my home computer. Thanks for the suggestion. :hmm: Somehow............I don't think Geonovast was talking about your truck  :teehee: Oh... but I was :brows: I don't need Barry White and the candles to get my girl going. :rotf:
  3. I would say either the shift collar to engage the chain is shot, the bolt on the shaft for it broke, or your chain snapped. Regardless of what it is, you won't be able to fix it without removing the T-case. You'll probably be better off pull the T-case and cracking it open.
  4. He doesn't have a carb. 86 2.5 is TBI. Also, there's no way that valve failing can cause it to be stuck at WOT. All that does is allow warm air that's heated from the exhaust enter the airbox. It has NOTHING to do with the butterfly, which is solely controlled by the gas pedal. All 3 of my Renix Jeeps were missing that little tube at some point, and I never had any problems. Of course... they were all 4.0s, therefore MPFI, not TBI.
  5. Something's going in the drivetrain on the 99 XJ. Shortly after I bought it, I was getting a shaking when I would use the brakes. Checked the rotors, sure enough, they were warped. Replaced them. The ride's still not quite right. At 50+, I have a barely noticeable shake, but it's definitely there. There's still a very slight shake when I press on the brakes more than 1/4 of the way down. This shake feels like it's coming from the back. The front pads were brand new, and the rears look to be about 90%. I'm also getting a whining noise from the front. I tried opening the window, but wind noise just drowns it out. The volume and pitch of the whine is preportionate to speed, not RPM. On top of that, every once in awhile when starting out, I can hear a quiet clunk, and the truck jerks forward a bit. When stopping, it seems to happen every turn of the wheels. It doesn't do it when it shifts. I've checked for slop in the wheel U-joints, and both driveshafts... as well as the balljoints, wheel bearings, and pinion bearings. I'm at a loss as to where to go next. 99 XJ - Auto - 231 - HP D30, 29 spline 8.25. I can take it to a parking lot, and try running around with each driveshaft removed if you think that'll help. (Gotta love sealed output 231s)

    EGR Tube

Do you have to have a functioning EGR for emissions? Might be beneficial to just eliminate the darn thing anyway. 91+ don't even have them.
  7. Get the 4.0, combine it with the 4.2 to make yourself a stroker. :brows:
  8. Nonsense. You were simply lacking information. Today you know something you didn't know yesterday.
  9. First... yes, all MJs were SUA at stock. How could going from SOA to SUA gain height? You'd make the back end drop about 5 inches. In case you're a little confused on terms:
  10. The axles themselves are the same. Taking an MJ axle off the top of the springs, and putting it under is the same as removing the MJ axle, and putting an XJ axle on underneath. These should help you:
  11. A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, observing his wife, looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her Birthday. 'I'd like to be twelve again', she replied, still looking in the mirror. On the morning of her Birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Coco Pops, and then took her to a theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Corkscrew, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Monster Roller Coaster, everything there was. Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down. He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake. Then it was off to the cinema with popcorn, a huge Cola, and her favourite sweets...........M&M's. What a fabulous adventure! Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted. He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, 'Well Dear, what was it like being twelve again?' Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed. 'I meant my dress size, you retard!!!!' The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is gonna get it wrong.
  12. Have you tried putting on some Barry White, lighting some candles, and sweettalking her? Sometimes... it seems to work.
  13. It might give you a little bit, but not much. XJ leaves are shorter, and are designed to lay flat at stock height. MJ leaves have a curve to them. If you want a 3" lift, check out Hellcreek for their leaf packs... a lift pack is much better than an AAL.
  14. NV3550 was 00-01. That's an AX-15.
  15. If you end up stripping it, I would be interested in the power locks, and possibly windows.
  16. This should help you a bit viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16305
  17.
  18. I'd rather not see them get an MJ. Those guys that did second chance XJ (or whatever it was called) are idiots.
  19. Swap in an 8.25 or D44. Problem solved. :smart: :rotf:
  20. Good point. Electrical current seeks a ground. If you interrupt the ground kindly provided by the factory, it'll seek out a ground path anywhere it can. It's just the nature of the beast. :agree: :agree: You may notice that no fuse is on a ground. It's always on the positive side.
  21. You do it to yourself. Nobody else.

Complaining about celebrities is more effective when you simply say nothing at all, and ignore them. You may be complaining about them, and basically wondering why they're famous. This is exactly why... it's negative, but you're still talking about them. Just my .
  23. AX-5 with 3.55 on 205/75/R15s isn't that bad.. With MPFI.. And level highway at 70mph.
  24. The picture. Although I imagine, if the truck still exists, it could be tracked down.
  25. The thickness difference of the input shaft is only at the tip, for the pilot bushing. Your 95 external setup will work just fine... just make sure you use the external bearing retainer.
