  1. I could drive that around ironically for awhile.. How much you get the whole car for? You just got it for the motor, right? If the rest of it's ok, are you considering dropping in a different motor and resell? Oh, and by the way, you're missing an 'o'.
  2. Not knowing anything about the 42RE, or really any automatics, I can only guess. I would think if a band was bad, it would act the same in D and 1st. Could be a solonoid? :dunno: Have you tried hooking a scanner up to it?
  3. Soo.. what, the BA 10/5 doesn't have reverse?
  4. Maybe if the chrome was black. Maybe. I don't like it.
  5. There's a switch on the side of the transmission that controls the reverse lights. Chances are pretty good it's stuck on. Quick fix is to simply unplug the connector until you can either get a new switch/unstick yours. Your reverse lights won't work, but at least you won't get pulled over. It'll be the only plug on your transmission, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.
  6. I actually hadn't heard about this until I read your thread. That's just insane. I just don't understand how people can go so ape$#!& crazy that they can do something like this... especially to people who didn't cause their "problem" in the first place. Glad your daughter is ok.
  7. Dana 44, Ford 8.8, or a 29 spline Chryco 8.25. Your D35 will not last very long, especially if you throw in a stroker.
  8. 2 inch lift shackle for an MJ will lift you up 2 inches. This, however, means that they're at least 4 inches longer than your stock shackles. If you're looking to get about 5 inches of lift, your best option is simply doing an SOA conversion. All it'll cost you is a set of spring perches, some welding, and a longer brake hose. If you do it right, you won't even need longer shocks. On top of that, many people will tell you to stay away from Rusty's. Also, you can't realistically do 5+ inches of lift up front with just spacers. A lift that high up front you need new everything. All 4 control arms(preferably adjustable), track bar(preferably adjustable), shocks, coils, sway bar links, brake hoses, etc etc. A lift that high is going to be expensive. Lifts, and especially strokers, aren't something you try on a budget. Do it right or don't do it. Good place to read up in strokers : http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/index.php
  9. And here I thought the speedo cable clip was changed midway through 87? I'd given an 88 cluster to 69camaroSS for his 87, and it didn't just plug in, so we figured he had an early 87.
  10. Yup, all XJ and MJ windshields are the same. I've heard(not confirmed), that it was used in many older Ford pickups as well.
  11. Don't even think about rebuilding your pukey. Parts are expensive... and in the end, you'll still have a pukey. If you can't find an AX-15 in the short term, you'd be better off picking up another pukey (I'm sure there's a few people on here that would me more than happy to donate you one), and run that until you find an AX15.
  12. He is selling his MJ so he can buy a freakin G6..
  13. It wouldn't have take much to get you out of that...
  14. Except the XJ received coil packs in 2000.
  15. At least grab the crank.
  16. Are the LWB eliminators that rare? I think yours is the only one I've ever seen/heard of.
  17. No such thing as a 99 ZJ Grand's: 93-98 ZJ 99-04 WJ 05+ WK
  18. My god... That's just wrong.
  19. I stand corrected... but why, oh why, would they make a police package without full gauges?
  20. Do you have an auxiliary fan already? Another thing you can look into doing is dual electrics and getting rid of the mechanical fan.
  21. Even the most beat to crap, rusted out, windowless MJ is better looking than any other truck out there. :brows:
  22. It doesn't "add" more torque, but it does redistribute the torque load. In 4Lo, the torque is divided equally between the front and rear axles. It also gives you more contact surface to get the vehicle moving. When you cut out the front axle, all the torque goes to the rear, and that axle has to do all the work. You'd have to be pulling something pretty stubborn to snap a shaft, but it is more likely.
  23. Reverse doesn't use a synchro.
