Trans shouldn't be an AX-15. I'm not sure what that one will be, but IIRC the dak got the AX-15 behind the 2.5 in 93 or 96
  2. My first 88 XJ was built in August of 87, and my current 88 XJ was built in October of 87. Both my MJs are actual 91s. Haven't gotten around to looking at the door sticker on the 99 yet.
  3. You could always swap the knuckles and shafts into the CAD housing.
  4. This is the best thread ever!
  5. Fill it with oil and keep parts it in..
  6. :fs1: :headpop:
  7. I would've completely agreed with you... until today. I had to register the 99 XJ with the DMV today. Lady behind the counter had some stupid questions.... and this whole conversation happened while she was holding the title. You would think, that someone who worked with the DMV, would have known the difference. And, you'd think, somewhere in that computer, it would be known that in 99, neither the Commander or Compass existed.
  8. You're going to need adjustable uppers and lowers, but it might do you good to research longarm kits as well. You're also going to need longer shocks, sway bar links, trackbar, brake hoses... 6 inch lifts are not meant to be done cheaply.
  9. There is no way in hell stock arms will work with 6"+.
  10. Registration goes by model year, not build year. A good portion of vehicles are built in the actual year prior to their model year. February's not even over, and I'm already seeing commercials for 2011 and 2012 cars. It's ridiculous, and I don't know any reason for it.
  11. That's because wikipedia is the absolute last place I would ever go to look something up.
  12. ^^ Doesn't seem to know he can use Quote code in signatures. :rotfl2:
  13. Which shaft? I think I'm going to remove the front shaft tomorrow to see if there's any difference. Still doesn't explain the clunk though. :hmm: The AC compressor whines too, so that's making it even harder to track down.
  14. Oh, sorry. The numbers in the pic aren't any actual measurements... they're just for comparison. The actual number is pixels.
  15. It's usually only open until the motor warms up. The MPFI motors have them too.
  16. 84-85 XJs were carburated. 86+ was TBI. There should be a vacuum controller valve on the bottom front of your airbox. Other way. It's to bring hot air from around the header into the airbox to get sucked into the motor.
