When I painted the doors for my truck, I used a different catalyst than the rest of the parts. End result, the doors didnt match. Fast forward to now, just going to bed at 4:30 after re-spraying the doors in the garage. Really hoping its not a mess down there in the morning, couldnt really tell when I was done......think the fumes got to me :chillin:

That happened about 4 miles from home, I'm on the Cheshire border. Scary thing to think of, this is a nice area too.

Mine sat inside the garage patiently awaiting re-assembly, while my mustang (garage queen) sits outside in the elements. I think I'm re arranging my priorities as we speak.

88 MJ long bed, frame rot repair
GreenF350 replied to LarryH88bt's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
This type of rust is exactly why I pulled my truck off the road last November. I suggest pulling the bed, and going over the whole rear frame. The extra access may show u more spots that need attention. CT and Comanches don't seem to have lasting realtionships! Good luck, great pics. -
Put the bed on, started to re-assemble the truck.

They seem to pop up from time to time. I got a call from a friend yesterday telling me that 2 Comanches just got hauled into the local junk yard. He said they were both 4x4, one short and one long bed, both had wasted tailgates but the lights were supposedly good. He asked about them and was told they would be crushed by Friday :fs1: I get out of work to late to go during the week, and these things are a 5 min drive from me. I'm pretty pissed off. Ill go down on Sat. to see if anythings left.....but yes, random Comanches still appear now and again.

Thats alot of space from such a small trailer. VERY COOL!

Luckily your driving an XJ now, so if you smash it up, who cares? Anyways, good luck on cutting back. If you think its a problem, it probably is.

don't give in Pete...You didnt build this Comanche empire to have it taken away this easily!! Keep in mind, out of sight, out of mind. Theres got to be another hiding spot for one of the trucks.

I don't understand Jeep. They are well known for building 4x4's, its what they do. What is one of the most versatile 4x4 platforms around?? The pickup truck. Pickup trucks have been used for work, play, family, industry etc. for many years in this country and around the world. So my question then, is why would a company who already has the know-how to build a decent mid-sized truck, who could use mostly off the shelf parts, and for which there is a potential for a sales gold-mine, totally ignore this segment?? Jeep builds SUV's, which are trucks ( mostly ) so why not build the most obvious version of a truck as well? Not like Chrysler couldn't use the positive press and the " brand new" image it would create. Makes no sense if you ask me. The only possible explanation is that pickups are still viewed by some as utiliterian. Jeep must think that since they don't have broad enough appeal to the masses, there is simply no need. After all, where does "work" or "do things" fit into the new slogan " I live, I ride, I am" ?? Sadly, this is what jeep has become. They think another 4dr. SUV is what the market needs.... :shake: The sad part is that jeep products ( when they were cooler and had substance ) are what made people buy into "the look". Now Jeep will sell you only " the look". The people who have a need for substance probably will start to look elsewhere.

More like "Hey, we never will" and walked off

Sprayed the cab this past weekend. It still needs a wet-sand and buff, but so far looks pretty good. Not bad for doing it myself. These pics also show my new tires and wheels. Next weekend Ill paint the doors, begin wet sanding, and hopefully start to put this thing back together.

Jeep Sticker 1991-2 Eliminator Stickers
GreenF350 replied to jeepdoggydogB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ill be up soon too. I just have to paint my cab, then assemble ( hood, doors, header etc are already painted ) Then its sticker time. These look great! -
Id go for it. My Comanche was headed to an auction, but since I was the one hauling it there, it ended up going home with me! Ended up giving the dealer $600 and it was mine. Most likely it will go cheap, and they are getting harder to come by. Where In NY are ya?
-
There was a similar one on here from the PA area, but I'm seriously doubting thats the same truck. Looks good though, should have left a card!! Ive been seeing Comanche's around as I travel for work, but never seem to snap a pic in time. I could have a whole page if I kept a decent camera handy, which may be a good idea!!

Just noticed this....Mine is from JCR offroad. They offer different styles, mine being the more basic of what they have. My rear bumper is still stock, someday that will change. ( its straight and no rust !!!)

Ive been to Worcester many times ( New England Summer Nationals ) and that truck does not fit in with that city. Yet another reason it is awesome!!
-
This is what I originally had on my truck. These look great, but since I couldnt find any when I did the repaint, I went with the Sportruck stripe. Now that I'm in the paint process yet again, I'm going with the 91-92 Eliminator stripes. Always liked the 91-92 Pioneer stripes though.

Your correct. This is EXACTLY how I got into comanches in the 1st place, since I was hauling cars for auto auctions. I was supposed to bring my green one to auction, and it wound up at home. Unfortunatly I mostly haul new cars now though

I think it was last years Peterson 4wheel & Off Road Ultimate Adventure that had a replica of one. There was a black MJ with a similar bed on it, and I even think there was a MJ-715 sticker on the fender. It was the owner of some 4x4 shops truck IIRC. It wasnt done up in olive drab, but it was cool to see.

NICE!! My 1st car was a hemi orange 71 Duster 340, 727, mini tubbed , 6pt cage with a few other goodies. Made for a badass high school car. Now Ill have to look for pics. I really like this, nice score.

Just started getting back to work on this thing. The bed is painted, cab should be shot with color by the weekend. The stripes have arrived ( and look great ) and then its time for assembly. Pics: Also, Ill include a pic of my tailgate collection
