Drahcir495 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Wow, they have gone up in price - $400. My first question are they worth it? I am trying to justify getting one. I plan on this being the last jeep I will own (rigght), so why not get it all?
watchamakalit Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Absolutely one of my favorite mods I have. But it wasn't $400 when I did it.
89 MJ Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 I haven’t done it, but the consensus seems to be that it’s a must do. If I ever have that kind of money burning a hole in my pocket, I would probably do it, but I’m also happy with the way mine shifts.
neohic Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 There’s some good DIY shifter tech within the first few posts of this thread:
Drahcir495 Posted November 3, 2024 Author Posted November 3, 2024 Well modifying mine is not going to happen , way out of my skill set. Geeze, I was hoping that I would hear back that it's not worth it . It shifts fine, but that is crazy money. I will see if I can score one used first, I guess? Watchamakalit - did the shift boot have to be modified to work?
Drahcir495 Posted November 3, 2024 Author Posted November 3, 2024 Dang it - I'm already pricing them out. Quadratec and Summit seem to have the best pricing at this point. Need to make sure they don't charge tax. I will sleep on it.
Eagle_SX4 Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 The one I have the previous owner order from here. https://core-shifters.com/products/core-hurst-shifter-1989-1999-jeep-cherokee-comanche-6-cyl-w-ax15-5-speed Looks like as cheap as $309 with a blank knob. It has been great. Save those pennies.

89 MJ Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it
Drahcir495 Posted November 7, 2024 Author Posted November 7, 2024 Got the shifter in now. Looks nice! still having feelings of “can’t believe how much I spent” on it. It may be a little while before I can try it out, but I will post up my thoughts when I do on my build up page ->
fiatslug87 Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 Can you post a picture of what’s under the boot? Thanks
Gjeep Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 I’ve been running the hurst shifter on my MJ and XJ for close to 14 years (on the MJ). They’re great. Accurate and shorter throw. Wouldn’t go back to the stock oar.
Drahcir495 Posted November 8, 2024 Author Posted November 8, 2024 Good to hear Gjeep! pictures of under the boot ->

Drahcir495 Posted November 18, 2024 Author Posted November 18, 2024 Heck yeah! If I had the mechanical skills to do mine I could have saved a Lot of money

fiatslug87 Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 I wonder if it was mistakenly posted at that price, no longer available and price shows as $356. You’re all good @Drahcir495
Drahcir495 Posted November 21, 2024 Author Posted November 21, 2024 yeah, a white lie would be ok in this situation
