AX15 Short Throw Shifters

I have a core shifters unit in my MJ. Works perfectly.

I finished my modified OE shifter last night complete with a fresh bushing and a new boot.  I was hoping for a more drastic reduction in throw, but the stick is really long for now so I should probably withhold judgement until I trim / bend it once the dash and seats are back in.

I found an OEM short throw shifter for the AX15. It is from a Dodge Dakota.  Here it is next to an XJ shifter tower. The pivot point is 1/2 inch higher than the XJ.

 

The only issue is that you will have to run the Dakota shift handle as it doesn't have the square shaft on the top like the Jeep version does.

 

The shift handle is interesting, as it has a rubber isolator built in making the shifts feel smoother.

 

It also has a oil baffle under the shift housing that I will use on my transmission.
