Pete M Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 if the data supports that as a good possibility, they have a duty to let everyone know. (what the media does with that info afterwords is a completely different thing) the wood stove was the final addition to my shelter-at-home plan. at any point in time we could stay here for 2 weeks straight, no matter what the weather brings. (unless said weather brings a tornado of course)

Trouble is, there are so many equations to run that even our biggest computers can't do them fast enough to be useful. They can generate a very accurate forecast for the next 24 hours. But it takes weeks to generate it. So it's not useful. Yet.
Ωhm Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 Jet Stream stuff, even though I'm not sure what it means (more predictions), can be some kind of early warning system. https://weatherstreet.com/models/gfs-jetstream-wind-forecast.php
jdog Posted March 13, 2021 Author Posted March 13, 2021 mine still looks like derfs but its some snow, neohic it looks like its starting to stick there.
BeatCJ Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 I hope you are ready for Snowmageddeon. Models are all statistics, you need an experienced forecaster to interpret them, sometimes. I always prefer to look directly at the National Weather Service information and go from there. The apps on phones are notorious for only using a numeric forecast, and those can miss on some of the influences pretty badly.
jdog Posted March 13, 2021 Author Posted March 13, 2021 I'm ready, got a stew going in the dutch oven, got more parts to install. and i didnt have to stock up on tp lol
derf Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 It's been snowing all afternoon but it's only just now starting to accumulate on the concrete.
derf Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Total accumulation is only an inch or two so far. The storm isn't done though. Tomorrow will bring more.
jdog Posted March 14, 2021 Author Posted March 14, 2021 I'm up to around 6 ins, just got in from shoveling
derf Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Just got in from snow blowing my driveway and the new neighbor across the street. Can't really tell because its blowing. But 4-6 inches off the top will help out a lot later.
Smokeyyank Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Made a sledding ramp. Kid had a blast. We're at a foot and growing.
neohic Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Still coming down. The tree is looking awfully heavy too. Been out shoveling twice already today. Probably head out again soon.
jdog Posted March 14, 2021 Author Posted March 14, 2021 Winds still blowing here, drifts are in the feet, haven't been back out to shovel.
