I don't think the nv3500 will work with a 350 from 1974 unless i'm wrong.

Sure it will.  You can find factory parts to bolt them up easily.  The 4.3 V6 came with a 3500 and uses the same bellhousing.  Get a standard flywheel for the 350 (may be the same as the 4.3) and the right clutch parts and it all goes together easily.

Are you going to beat on your truck? My dads YJ with 35s, a 340 hp 5.3, and an NV3500 has done several burnouts and donuts on the pavement with no breakage. I think you’ll be fine. The 3500 came in half ton trucks too.

I want to be able stick the pedal to the floor with blowing the transmission. Is that transmission in your dads YJ stock internals or is it built.

Bone stock with God knows how many miles.

will the nv4500 bolt right to a 350 without any issues? And my second question is will the nv4500 fit in a comanche?

I would think you would have to do some tunnel bodywork to get a NV4500 to fit.

Does anyone know if the gm power steering lines will screw right into the factory steering box?

Mine screwed right into the factory mj box. Not sure what the line came from but it also fit the s10 box on my dads Truck

saginaw boxes should be same, and 8.8 with 4.56s.

or you mean came factory...  .8.8 i found with 3.73s to 4 10s, to 4.56s and can be had with lsd as well, but may need a fresh clutch disc pak installed.

What gears would you get in the 8.8 with the nv3500?

With a 350, you could be pretty flexible. I would choose 3.73, but 4.10 wouldn't over rev it with an overdrive. Really depends on tire size, and I don't think I saw that anywhere.

This thread is further proof of what @Pete M and others have said before: there is no such thing as a cheap v8 swap.

Called a broke down Chevy.
