89 MJ
I am looking at getting some factory style rollbars reproduced. I would need measurements for: tubing diameter (outside diameter) length of legs length of kickers to wheel wells all angles where the tubing is bent angle of kicker to main hoop Thanks all, I would like to try to make this happen. marcial88
I would be interested in a LWB sports/roll bar. 1986 Jeep Comanche X4WD GM 2.8L V6Front: Stock Dana 30Rear: Stock AMC 20Los Angeles CASent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Pete M
chances are they are going to need an example of each on hand. shipping is going to be a real pain. aftermarket were designed to come apart for shipping.
eaglescout526
If I didnt have the bed rug I would totally be in for one. Fiat might have one but I could be wrong. LWB roll bars seem to not have been that popular at all.

I’ll need to see what other interest I can get. 33 minutes ago, eaglescout526 said: If I didnt have the bed rug I would totally be in for one. Fiat might have one but I could be wrong. It could be seasonal. 40 minutes ago, Pete M said: chances are they are going to need an example of each on hand. shipping is going to be a real pain. aftermarket were designed to come apart for shipping. Shipping will likely be a pain. I’ve asked them about making them before, and they said we should start with measurements and could see about going from there. A DIY skit might be possible (just supplying the bent tubing).

Pete M
a DIY might be the key here. the bends are the same between long and short.
Fernando87mj
Now that I got my shortbed a roll bar , my longbed is now begging for one too

Thanks for getting the brain juices flowing. Now I either need to find someone with a rollbar that I could borrow, or I need to find someone who I can get the angles/measurements from. So far it’s looking like I could have no problem selling 3 LWBs (as long as they aren’t too expensive). I will probably monitor this thread for a few days to gauge interest. Pete M
you won't have any trouble finding people who want them. but price w/shipping is everything with the bulk of possible buyers.

As one can expect. I will probably call up there in a few days and see if I can get a price estimate if I can get the rollbar angles/measurements I need. Dzimm
Yeah shipping is the big kicker as Pete mentioned.

Interest will depend on price. Personally I’m not super keen on the look of the stock bar. It does make the truck look more “period correct” but it’s not my favorite. That being said, I would consider one for the right price.
Jesse J
yeah agreed. Its all price. would be very interested in a DIY although, definitely make the plans available even if its like 10 bucks for the,

89 MJ
I'm just going to give this a little bump quick to see if anyone that currently has a rollbar out or can easily get to one can get the measurements.
Andy in Pa
I really like this idea, and think if you had a roll bar designed with the angled back pieces landing on top of the wheel wells in the bed for a short bed, it would be easy to modify it for a long bed. Just stretch those arms back a bit more so they land at the same place on a long bed. Make those angled arms removable, main hoop would stay the same. Its easily shipped this way, and more universal. It won't match the factory roll bar, but I bet it would sell anyway. Others could use it in various mid-size pickups too. Also you wouldn't have to wait (and rely on) measurements from other folks either. Just a thought...

There are a few kits out there that you can already do this and I just don't think they look nearly as good as the OEM sportbar. A main reason I want to get into reproducing the OEM ones is because I think paying $400+ for a rollbar that is 30 years old that often times still needs paint is ridiculous, so I think and aftermarket option, even at $500 that needs to be welded and painted would increase the supply of them, making having an OEM looking rollbar more achievable for some of us. I am yet to even see a truck in person with a rollbar.
