I actually worked on Chunk this weekend. More or less painting parts but I am working on putting the rear section back together. The body is actually in good shape, some of the floors could use a replacement but I digress. Now I am at a point where I am replacing deteriorating parts unfortunately. Kinda odd but I guess these plastics break down pretty badly.

Looks great though!!

Little bits at a time.

Got the rear interior assembled, not entirely happy with how the rear hatch closes on the bottom piece but it is what it is. can't complain too much.

I also removed the upper half of the rear bench and the seat belts. Upon removing the third lap belt I found this gem:

Pretty sure its a piece of the 80's but still was a neat thing to find tucked under the belts. Now to keep cleaning and make my way forward.

Little update. So @CactusComanche got in an 86XJW and I of course paid him a visit. More to see the street MJs once again and they are beautiful as always. Anywho I pulled some parts from the 86XJW. Granted the interior is nutmeg in color but I pulled the seats and door panels as they are in beautiful shape. So those will be going in Chunk for a now three tone tan interior look. I’ll post some pics but i have committed some slight blasphemy with the door panels. I’ll post some pics later but I’ve been doing a lot of work since I now have time to work on him.

The XJW was really weird though. It’s power lock only, 2.5L A900 series 3 speed auto with command-trac and it’s a base waggy. Not a combo I was expecting at all. Engine sounded good and healthy. It also has the reclining bucket seats and a matching color dash bezel(snagged that too). The body panels were starting to rot away but for where this XJW came from, the underside was in damn near excellent shape.

Oh here’s a before on the seats:

Aaaaannnd we’re back!! After complications with removing the drivers side seat(thanks rust) I now am finally able to move more forward. And honestly I can say here that this isn’t the worst rust I have seen but this could be worse since it is an 84 but absolutely not bad. This is just the drivers side. Have not yanked up the pass side.

I have two directions to go. Get a floor pan from an XJ that I know is good or get aftermarket replacements.

it's all about the little victories :D

Indeed  it is. Now I have three bolts to hold the drivers seat down instead of the two in the rear. I even got proactive and ordered four new studs for the drivers side seat. I even was able to finally swap to the reclining seat bracket and boy that is really nice. Now I need to take one of the seat frames I have and chop the tilt lever thing off and weld it to the opposite side so I can have a complete set.

Drivers side seat fabric and what not is now swapped over to the "new" frame. Went on a mad panic to find the lever for the seat only to learn I left in the XJ I pulled the seat from. But its broke! Ha, thats why I don't have it. Lol. Anywho I ordered a NOS one from ebay. Should see that in a month.

Holy fricken crap!!!! Such good news I have!! So the radio I bought from @RustyRodder came Monday. Awesome! Toyed around with it and see how I can get it to fit the XJ mounting bracket. Thats gonna be a crap load of fun! Buuuuttt thats not the best part. So I yanked this hunk of crap out:

I hated how the PO did this. Its not like he tried to hide this set up. Now granted it is a good set up but not something you add to an 84 XJ. Anywhoooo. I was yanking out the hodge podge of butchery and hacks of the previous radio and discovered the original plugs! I alread knew the speaker plug was there for a while now but had no hopes of fidning the other two plugs. Well sure enough a little extra digging and theres the other two pack-cons! Holy crap I said. Pulled them out, found the PO snipped the purple wire so now I have to fix that issue. That being said, I plugged in the AMC radio, plugged power into where the wire was snipped and the speakers I installed in the rear hatch staticed to life! The radio started blasting music so damn clearly! The original wiring is all there!! Now I have to find the door wiring and get those in place and mount the radio! Hot damn is this exciting!

Ill post something in the tech to get yalls opinions on how I should go about making an adaptor to fit the radio to the XJ bracket.

Been steadily working around the house and what not. Kinda have a honey-do-list but except I made it! HAHAHA. But I have been doing little things to Chunk. Recently got the new Pack-con terminals in and fixed the 12v radio wire. Now the set up is ready for door speakers and we should be rockin like its 1984! I got the two front doors ready for a power conversion, I don't know I am going to do power window right away, but the plugs will be there when the time comes. Power locks is a definite though, gonna try to get the solenoids installed today or later. Gotta test them first. I finished yanking out the POs radio equipment, asked my dad what the passive crossovers were for, might keep them since they are vintage. I got a whole long list of to-do but mostly I am waiting on doing the floors which I need to get new pans for.  No pics for today.

Not much new but I got the drivers side door power harness installed and will be working on getting other bits installed. For now, only power mirrors and locks will be installed until the manual regulators completely fail or until I grow a pair and swap them out before wrapping everything up haha. That being said, I was cleaning up my cabinet and I was putting all the Jeep wiring harnesses in a different container and stumbled upon a NOS passenger side door harness with an AMC logo on the plug

Hard to see it but I of course installed it! The harness I had didnt have the power mirror plug and the speaker plug was damaged so it was an obvious upgrade.

Still bouncing around a few different ideas for upgrades and what not but will update as I get them done.

So I got the new to me lower dash bezel in today, it does not have any grills for the tweeters just like the original one, now I need to get some more paint and make it look nice and pretty. And i did get something I had my eye on for a while and jsut screw it an pulled the trigger on them.

I got me a set of Marchal lamp covers to go over my Marchals. They arent in too bad of shape and I probably pissed off a lot of fox body owners when I bought these lol. 35 other watchers to be exact on this particular set. Anyways they fit perfectly and I of course restored them. Gave them a few good coats of paint and here we are as they sit:

I gotta clean up my paint a little bit for the silver but they look damn good. Almost new aside from my silver paint.

I am hoping to get further on this project soon, my biggest hold up is the floor at the moment.
