Rich, I thought you already had one in your possession! That is really cool and will definitely reimburse you! Thanks for grabbing it, especially on Christmas eve, wow!

Buck.

I do! It is in the truck which is an hour and twenty minutes away . I have no idea when I will be able to bring it home with the two CJ projects here. I got the alert that they had a country edition in the yard. This was probably the only day I could get away in the near future. Merry Christmas my friend :beerchug:

Merry Christmas to you and your family also, that is an awesome age for your son to experience Christmas morning!  When ours was about that age I put a toy kitchen together in the late night, Santa dropped it off of course.

Man, this just sucks. Driving home I hear a horrible noise that I thought was coming from the passenger side wheel well. It quickly stopped, so now I think I blew a belt out. Or worse the harmonic balancer. Pull in and looked at the wheel well and all good there. Now I was dreading what I was going to find under the hood. Apparently, a bolt came out of the fan shroud holding it in. It bit it quick->

The fan blades are tweaked ->

Going over to tech to see if they can just be put back close to where they were, or do I have to get new. At least it didn’t further damage my leaking radiator. I just got the new shroud though:brickwall:

One of our fellow CC’ers had an amazing under hood insulation pad. I need to go back and find out who replied to my comment but they let me know that they were available new :beerbang:. I went to team Cherokee as suggested and they had them for around $75. Heck yeah! Put it in my cart and went to check out and said 109. I thought that was a little steep to add 30 something dollars to ship it. I was not happy about it, but I would love with it. Almost pressed confirm until I looked at the total . They wanted $109 for shipping! Pack sand idiots. Ended up getting it for the same price at Team Grand Cherokee with free shipping->

It came with all the clips to hang it up too ->

My pad was in rough shape. Stains, zip ties holding spots together and separation of the pad itself->

I Began to carefully take the pad off the hood when I thought what was I doing? Just started to rip it out at this point->

Got the pad off and it was filthy underneath it->

Used a brush and some degreaser on it and it came out pretty good ->

Then I got it all in ->

I like it :L:.

I realized that two of the holes in the pad did not the clip holes to hold down those sections of the pad. I drilled the holes, admittedly too large, and snapped one in. I lost the second clip but it showed up in the battery tray a day later.

Buuut, in the process this happened->

The release rod broke at the weld :fistshake1:. Now what?! I am going to the pick n pull at 8am to carefully pull one off either an 88 or 96 they have there.

I looked everywhere online to find the hood latch release rod, but I couldn’t find anything, but what only looked like an expensive complete kit. I gave up and looked at the list of Jeeps they had in the lot at the LQK. They luckily had two Cherokee’s; 88 & 94. While there I was checking out the interior of the 88 when I noticed this ->

Wow! 808237 miles :jammin:. It also had this gem in it ->

I ended up getting the rod off the 94 XJ because, in my mind, it had a heck less miles on it ->

Not happy with how much how much I paid for a small piece of rod; $8, but not much I could do with no other option and a hood  I can’t close. All good now.

WOW! So many times I’ve been in salvage yards and actually said out loud, “good job, little buddy!”

You mean with the phone? I plan on getting the mount and anything else that goes with it. I can get the instrument cluster too, if you want to impress your friends :applause:

I made it to one LQK and the 2nd one locked the door in my face . I was just going in for the phone and possibly the rear view mirror. The half hour left would have been more than enough time to get the two items. I guess I understand. Found an 88 MJ in just horrible shape. Found a relay cover without the hold down clips, but I am sure someone will need it ->

Picked that up along with a few other things. Found this thing ->

I grabbed it. Looks like it is going to be helpful holding wire looms or hoses. Mounted it in the same location in the Jeep. The hole was already there :D.

A few weeks back my mechanical fan took out my fan shroud because the wimpy clips let the mounting bolt back out ->

I found a really stout clip nut (have no idea what they are called) in my MJ/XJ bolt collection. I just need three more of them. Problem was that I had no idea where it came from . I found a 2000 XJ in the yard and it had exactly the same thing on the top radiator support. You can see how much better these will be ->

Got those on and then the electric fan & fan shroud bolted down ->

I am confident that the will not be backing out.
