Ouch! Pressing out a bearing with this thing yesterday ->5FFA0EBE-3BE2-4EEC-B2E2-34A1EE9864F4.jpeg.f9320b5a8bb09d05900214b470bdfb51.jpeg

And it suddenly gave way . Unfortunately I was not quick enough and it caught one of my fingers.

It crushed it a bit on the steel below. Obviously it hurt, but not much pain at all since then? I am definitely loosing that nail. It is floating around on that finger

Two days later ->

December 24th my son pulled of the nail  ->

Ouchy.  If blood starts welling up underneath the nail (and it will.......), heat up a straight pin or sewing needle with a flame and push it thru the center of the nail.  If it's hot enough, it'll go thru like butter.  Might want to wear a pair of goggles and a shirt you really don't care about when it does though:laugh:

You'd think it would hurt like Hades, but the actual pressure from the blood under the nail building up is an attention getter.  As soon as that needle tip breaks thru (don't jam it in like you're trying to stab Dracula in the heart with a wooden stake, just ease it in and spin it with your fingertips to try and bore it in slowly and carefully), all that pressure will be relieved.  Probably in spectacular fashion too:L:

Trust me on this one Rich.  I've smashed my fair share of nail beds/fingertips.  Even chopped off one of my toes, too, via my TJ.  LOL.

You crack me up.

If it comes to that point I will do it :L:. Right now the blood is seeping out the sides of the nail. I just hope the nail grows back.

😳 your toe! We’re they able to reattach it?

I didn't chop it the whole way off, but about 95%.  Imagine flipping the top open on a zippo lighter....the tip was just hanging there like that, hinged by a small piece of skin on the bottom:brows:. It was the only time I ever called 911 on myself....got a nice little emergency ambulance ride to the ER.  The ER doc was able to sew it all back together, but it's crooked lol.  But hey, at least I still have a toe:laugh:

There may have been an episode where "someone I know" was trying to take the door off his wrangler and it was stuck.  When it let go, that individual may or may not have lost his grip on the door and dropped it on his toes while wearing sandals.  It may have broken two of the toes and required about 8 stitches.

But I'm not admitting anything.

That is exactly what happened to me, lol.  Half steel doors, soft uppers.  Lifted the door off the hinges, sat it on the rocker to regroup, then grabbed it by the upper.  Gravity prevailed, and I was still holding the upper in my hands when the door guilotined my right foot while in flip flops.  Crushed my big toe (broke it at the joint), the nail popped right off lol.  Chopped half of the second toe about 95% off.....blood everywhere.  Good times.

Glad I'm not the only one who's done that:beerchug:

I no longer wear flip flops or sandals in the garage.

Lesson here; Jeep doors are possessed!

I can definitely see how this could happen. Funny now, but I am sure nobody was laughing then. If somebody could sue over hot coffee and win. I am sure a big payday was a real possibility, but I know that is not the kind of people we are :beerchug:

Picking up the CJ’s. Can no longer store them at work , so they are coming home. Good timing since my Cherokee is getting closer to being where I want it to be. I always have to be working on something. You can’t imagine all the Jeep stuff I have. Extra Comanche stuff too.

  • 2 weeks later...

I recently went through the shop where I had two CJ’s and a 8x12’ area stacked with Jeep parts. Needed to get them out of there for product expansion. Found stuff I do not remember having lol. I thought the MJ stuff was long gone?? Look at what I found :jammin: ->

Quite the hoarding stash! So much other stuff too. Even have a waggy header that was in the pile. I know my truth; the addiction is real:roflmao:

Got off early from work today  and I was able to hit the LKQ right before they closed. I knew what I wanted and it was only going to be taking off two nuts and four bolts, so they were kind enough to let me slide. They had an 1996 up-country XJ in the yard ->

I wanted to get the front sway bar for BUXMJ and I got it ->

I will have to bring it into work Friday to check the diameter with the dial calipers. Want to make sure it’s the larger bar.
