rylee144 Posted April 1, 2021 Author Posted April 1, 2021 Got the rear axle in, drive shaft fits good. I need to pick up some ujoint straps or ubolts to mount it tho. My misalignment spacers came in, wrong ones again. Tried to put the old ones back in with a new nylon lock nut. Not sure if they cross threaded or it was the wrong thread pitch but its seized on now and needs cut off.
rylee144 Posted April 4, 2021 Author Posted April 4, 2021 Still waiting for one portion of this project to go as planned. Got the old bolt cut off after I cross threaded the nut. New bolt is too long and the misalignment spacer broke in half. Now i gotta wait for a new one of those and a bolt. Hoping the bolt shop had the right bolt. XO Fab in enumclaw is going to do the alignment and make sure I didnt mess anything up. Heard good things about them.
MiNi Beast Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 what in the sam hell? tone down those biceps, not need to tighten them down that tight.
rylee144 Posted April 4, 2021 Author Posted April 4, 2021 I think the spacer was already broken. The nut cross threaded before it was snug. Drive shaft fits well
rylee144 Posted April 5, 2021 Author Posted April 5, 2021 Thought I was close to done. Started the truck in neutral foot on the clutch and al most ran into the front of my garage. What should I check? Bleed the clutch?
MiNi Beast Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 yeah check for air bubbles with someone while clutch pumping. I'm having same issues with my slave just an inch at floor.
Pete M Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 yeah, no safety clutch anythings with the MJ. gotta be on your toes all the time.
rylee144 Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 Got the clutch and the brakes bled I think. Brakes are holding good. I can shift but it seems rough and clunky. It won't go into reverse, grinds. Does that mean my clutch is still messed up or what?

MiNi Beast Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 was it a used trans? can be bad shift fork pads, but need to ensure pressure plate is good. kinda hard telling what your working with over here.
rylee144 Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 External. I shifted to reverse with I off and it worked fine. I backed out of the garage. Looks at this f-ing tire. Wtf is that lol
rylee144 Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 Lifted it up and set it down again, rolled down the driveway. It's better

eaglescout526 Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 Anything wrong with the flywheel? Broken bolts for the clutch plate? Bad internal slave?
rylee144 Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 It has an external slave, brand new clutch and fly wheel. After I bled the clutch and brakes everything seems to be doing fine. I just shift into reverse when it's off.
eaglescout526 Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 You could always do the ole shift into first then reverse while the engine is running.
rylee144 Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 Prolly have to. Good enough for me. Alignment scheduled for next week. Getting there will be the true test. Super happy to be this far! Couldnt have done it without the club's help.
rylee144 Posted April 6, 2021 Author Posted April 6, 2021 I'd like to find an xj shifter stalk someday too. The one I have is taller and feels weird. Guess I could cut out a chunk and weld it
