It doesn't make me want to poke my eyes out at least. If the bed was a little longer it would look a lot better methinks. The stupid cheesy "easter eggs" turn me off the Renegade though.

There is nothing about the Renegade that I like.  I've seen worst attempts at a new Comanche and this is not the worst.  The only thing I like about this is the paint scheme and color.

Boar Customs also built this monstrosity. They seem to have a problem with vehicle proportioning.

My aunt has the Patriot and if this has the same drive train........include my mothers new Cherokee..............it's FWD, 4WD is an afterthought.

It looks to me like a competitor for those Kawasaki utility quads with the micro "pickup" box on the back.

If that was the only Jeep pickup I could own, I'd buy a Prius instead. Or a Fiat 500. Butt ugly is the best description for it.

Not that I could afford it, but If something like that went into production it would be the perfect size truck for me. Though I agree it could use a slightly longer box, I don't need a full-size truck, so something like a 1/2 ton is too much, smaller truck like MJ, Dakotas and  rangers are all the truck I need, but no one makes those anymore, even the Tacoma and the new Colorado are a lot bigger then then their older counter part. I only wish that the MJ had an extended cab like my dad's 08 ranger then it would be the perfect truck.

 

also as far as modern cars go I actually don't mind the look of it.

I appreciate their attempt, but the rounded front end and the boxy bed do not look good together. Like a total after thought.

 

IMO, if someone could convert just the grill and headlight bezel to a more rectangular shape, like the original MJ, it would improve its looks tremdously.

 

As it sits right now I don't care for it at all.

 

BTW, is it just me or are those tires tiny?

Everyone assumes that just because someone became an engineer, designer, manager, or CEO of a major corporation, they must be smart, not so. 

 

69 Camaro, Mustang, 70 Challenger. If the engineers at GM, Ford, Chrysler, had two collective brain cells..........

 

 

There is no reason that they could not produce a 69 Camaro, for example, for 2018, one that at a glance in a parking lot could not be discerned one from another. Sure, new chassis, drive train, interior, all brought to current regs, but the body itself. Not a retro attempt but a recreation of a true classic. 

 

I promise you, those would be pre-sold for 4 years out. All the guys that are in the  55-65 year old range that wanted one or had one back in the day, who now have three nickles to rub together, those guys would be standing in line. 

 

Not to mention that our kids twenty years from now would have another round of classics to play with. 

 

No, it won't happen. People are not that smart.

Obviously a copy of the EJS concept from last year.

 

It does get rid of the janky convertible top, but it definitely has proportion issues. I thought Jeep's version had too little wheelbase, Boar's is worse. Give it an extra 12" wheelbase for a 6' bed, 18" for a long bed, rake the back of the cab a little less steeply and toss a plastic vent cover behind the door, and bed sides that flow from the BU's body lines. Call it the BJ Commanche (deliberate misspelling). Sure it'll still be fwd biased which sucks, but it will look alright, hopefully get a little more beef in the drivetrain for decent payload and towing, and probably sell quite a few units. There's a reason people buy the Honda Ridgeline, which is reasonably capable for what it is but also butt ugly. This will look better, be the small car-like truck a variety of people are looking for, and maybe actually have a three-pedal option for whatever that's worth.

Except FCA is building a Wrangler truck and won't want to steal sales from that. I can see the appeal of the JT I guess, but I'm really not crazy about it. I'd prefer a unibody myself.
