Jacob Ochs
I wanna see all different kinds of MJs with different paint jobs! I'm going to do body work and paint soon and can't decide! I really like the candy apple red color an dark blues so if anyone has a picture of those that would be great. I can't wait to see them; I will post up a picture of mine after its painted. dasbulliwagen
Yes CANDY colors are nice, but very expensive and hard to paint. Candies are generally a 3 stage paint. A solid base coat often in a heavy metallic silver or gold, and tinted clear coat to give the effect, and a regular clear top coat. This type of paint is generally reserved for high dollar custome or hot rods. If a repair is needed you generally have to repaint the whole vehicle as a 3 stage is almost impossible to match if painted panel by panel. Just FYI. I don't think I'll go with a candy color then ill just go with a sapphire blue or a color called metallic red. I always wanted to do black but that's really common and I heard its a pain. Thanks for the info I didn't wanna bite off more than I can chew. Body work has already been very intimidating so I couldn't imagine after all that a hard paint job! sinkrun
The flash red I used (if you like it) was well under $200.00 for a gallon of single stage acrylic. It was the lower end of the paint brands also the first one I ever did so I didnt want to spend a ton on paint.

sinkrun
Surplus city in Bellwood pa I think they have a store in Maryland also they do sell paint and supplys there quite cheap. Not sure where your from but regardless do some pricing on paint there can be a HUGE difference. I will see if I can find the can and manufacturer so you can see who sells it in your area. USAFAGumby
Just had mine painted "Fathom" blue. Might be the same blue as the Chevelle's Fathom color but not sure, really just a nice light metallic that MAACO had.
Blue88Comanche
My 1988 MJ.. It had a super cheap paint job, thus the faded sun burnt paint after a couple years. All I was going for at the time was to protect it from potential rust. When the paint was new As it sits now.
