Great, Now Need Fan Bearing Hub With Bracket...if It Aint One Thing Its Another

Recommended Posts

so I believe I fixed all of my power steering issues but now my fan pulley is making some really horrid squalling noises. Its been making some noise here and there but now its toast. Sucks cause I busted my but to get the truck ready to go to the deer lease tomorrow and now I won't be taking it.

Anyway, after doing some research, the bearing for the pulley is pressed into the bracket that its on. The same bracket that the compressor should sit on. Well for me its the dead pulley because my mj did not come with ac from the factory.

Furthermore, looks like the only place to get the bracket is the dealership and from what I have found it runs any where from $300-$500 bucks....

So this is where I'm asking opinions from yall. What should I do? I have read through a few threads where people try to replace the breaking but 99% don't turn out well. If anybody currently works at a dealership can you look up the part to confirm the price for me, as I won't be able to at the deer lease.

Also does anybody have a part number for it?

Some details on replacing the bearing including a part number: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1073406

MOPAR 53011002 - This is from my 1997-2001 parts list, but it also says it is the same for a YJ so I believe it should match. A dealership might actually have it cheaper.

The HO and Renix brackets will swap if you use the correct alternator bracket and A/C compressor or delete pulley.  OneOverZero and I went through this with his Renix to HO swap and we kept the GM/Renix alternator.  His A/C didn't work and the Renix A/C delete pulley isn't available (horizontal bolts).  The HO delete pulley is available (vertical bolt holes) so we took the Renix bracket off and put the HO one on

Got the nos part thanks to 90 mj eliminator. Should

Put me back on the road and ready to put these long arms on. However I did notice the number on the part is 8953002902 instead of 53002901. Looks like it should fit though from what I can see.

Hi Zebvance and all,

Been a while since this thread was active, but now I am facing the same problem. Did the part marked 8953002902 work? I know that 53002901 is the Mopar part number, but can't find much about that other number.

I have been unable to find an new one of these at all, but there is a remanufactured one on ebay listed with the 8953002902 part number. Maybe that is a casting number? I am hesitant to just try one from a junkyard as everything is so old now.

Thanks for any advice.!

There was a thread about this topic on one of the XJ forums years ago, wherein a guy figured out a standard part from one of the main National bearing suppliers that is pretty much a drop in fit.   Of course, one needs to get someone to has a hydraulic press to remove the old one and install the replacement.

I cannot remember which XJ forum it was, but I know “Eagle” was on that same forum at the same time, so maybe he remembers.

With the OEM stock of these bracket/shaft assemblies drying up, we might all be needing to use this alternate approach soon.

Thanks, AZJeff and all! Very helpful. I turned this one up

https://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52157

which I am guessing is the one given Eagle's post starting the thread.

This one also looks helpful

https://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=979293

and is mentions a bearing part number, 6203-2RS, which I have seen elsewhere.

I think what I will do is get a junkyard bracket and see if I can get the bearing swapped first. Then I can install on the truck. I had to have the power steering pump replaced, after which the belt squealed, which turned up a bad harmonic balancer and also a bearing issue with the alternator. Ugh. The mechanic said the idler pulley would be the next thing to fail as it had play in it, but at least I am back to running. Can't complain- that bearing is still going after 300k miles!

Thanks!

ps. If it is original, suggest checking your harmonic balancer. Mine was so bad it had shifted enough to start wearing a cut into the case cover behind it.

Maybe not the forum you were expecting but my google-fu found this pretty quickly.

That’s not the thread I was thinking of, but the link has the correct info on how to obtain just the shaft/bearing assembly, and reuse the old bracket.:L:
