What Are You Guys Paying For Insurance On Your Mj?

I just got a quote for $244 a year for liability only, or $360 for full coverage. Would you even bother with full coverage for an '86 model?

Annual insurance premium is $439. That's "basic all-purpose" because I had to for driving to school, with a $300 deductible (because I get completely free glass repair and wildlife with it) and an extended $2,000,000 third-party liability. Not sure the $17 deductible extension really matters since they'd likely just write it off, but the liability went up from 250k for only an extra $23/year, so I figured why not.

I'm not really sure I have an option to not get full coverage... but I wouldn't bother making claims for small things because I'm near positive they'd cut me a check for $200 and write her off. If you had it insured as a classic, or vintage, or whatever you call it, it might be a different story.

I just went from $800 in Mass for basic,

to $200 in NH for full coverage lol.

As far as full coverage goes,

it does help.

Someone t-boned me years ago,

I only had minimum coverage.

My car was totaled, the other company wouldn't pay, and my insurance was ZERO help.

It took 2 years, and a small claims court hearing to get the value of the car.

If I had full coverage,

my insurance would have paid me right away, and THEY would have went after the other company.

The premium for my MJ is $94 for 300K liability. One accident when I was 17. Haven't had a single ticket in 35 yrs.

The key is not getting caught  ...and being "mature" :brows:

When I first got my MJ I was paying $64 per month for basic.

Now I am paying full coverage on my 05 WK and basic on the MJ at $114 per month. I just turned 22 and my monthly payments dropped :)

Mine should drop soon from turning 25. For now I pay $66 a month. I have glass and vandalism with it. (i've angered a few folks over the years)

We are paying $108/month through Farmers for full/comprehensive coverage on our Escape, and liability/comprehensive on the Jeep. Both are mid-range coverage for collision and bodily injury. With that said, still please don't hit me and I will try to do the same for you. Especially if you drive an expensive car.

is there any insurance that would cover damages that happen when off roading. I am not just talking damage to your own truck say you slide into a tree, but if you hit someone else. Does insurance cover off highway accidents (i know this my differ from different companies).

A friend of mine just sank his jku in the river. Total loss. Insurance covered it under flood insurance.

MPI only covers you for things that happen on public roads. If it's in a parking lot, both parties are equally at fault, no matter what happened, unless one of the vehicles was properly parked and unoccupied. And if the road's been closed for weather or anything like that, you're not covered.

well i have the unfortunate duty to tell you that an accident in a parking lot is not always equal. I recently was backing out of a spot at a my school and was hit by a car going down the lane. I was found at fault cause i was the one backing out. I am sure that it changes state to state but that is what my interaction was.

My MJ has been off the road to long to remember :fs2: But I was paying more for the Mj than a 97 Blazer. Now I pay $160/month for an 08 passat with full coverage and a 96 grand am with liability

As you guys modify your trucks and add significant value, you need to keep your insurance agent informed. Keep a list with costs. Pics, too. Sure makes things easier when the texting teen t-bones ya.

Yeah, state to province differences ;) Last summer, a co-worker's boyfriend was sitting in a parking lot at a mall waiting to pick her up, parked perfectly legally within a properly marked spot. She walks out the door, and sees someone come roaring into the lot and plows right into him hard enough to total both cars and push her boyfriend's car into the car in the next stall and do significant damage to it. Apparently that's equal fault because he was in the driver's seat. :dunno:
