So why on earth would you waste your time with our "dinky" 4.0?? Even with the cost for adapting it to a jeep, the sheer power gain would seem to make this a no brainer?

Or am i being blinded by the 1000hp and neglecting the fact they might only produce a couple hundred torques?

BTW that is one monstrous turbo on the first video, i mean DAMN!

While semi impressive of course, as you say mountainman, it's not hard with today's technology and it's commonplace. The tricky (read super expensive) part is building a four cylinder engine to last for a 500 miler and dominate for decades, with all the pit stops, accidents, etc. involved was reliability. Only the Offenheiser-Miller engine ever did that. They were killed by technology as all things eventually are. The V8 Ford Cosworth engine that eventually became it's equal in endurance but had 33% more HP took control in the early 70's. I was fortunate enough to attend a few Indy 500s back in the day, and the scream of an Offy at full RPM is something I'll never forget.

I would like more info on how they prepped the suspension and what parts they used. I see a mono leaf and sway bar in the rear

Fiberglass leafs with aluminum bushing seats bolted at the ends in the rear along with the blocks and XJ shackles to lower it further. Not sure what the sway bar is off of. In the front, they used custom spun coils. That front axle isn't the race ready unit either. They cut between the control arm mounts and the knuckle to set the camber to get them to corner just right. There are rumors that they cut and dropped the axle in the middle for clearance. As far as I've found, they did not but there are plenty of action pictures that look as though they did however it's just the tranny cross member.

That's not a turbo. It's a siren. warning people to get the h*ll outta the way.

It's still way below my maximum bid. The thing on this is after the feeding frenzy of the opening bids it will be quite for awhile. Then in the closing minutes some lurker, who never even bid, until now, springs out of the darkness and grabs it up. Or maybe nobody wins and it just fades back into oblivion for another time period.

Bidding before the last minute on an eBay auction is a waste of time and just drives the price up.

Back in the day ....SCCA suspension rules allowed : replacing OEM with any material attached to stock mounting points AND any additional suspension components you wished to add ! I campaigned A Datsun 1200 in C-Sedan with Teflon rear leafs , Zeed for tire clearance and a 4 link with adjustable coil-overs front and back .Since the 1200 was basically a BMC knock-off , we used dual "SU" side-draft carbs , tuned headers, roller cam ,dry sump ,and got 150 hp to the rear wheels @ 8000 rpm . Yes we did grenade a few engines in the process, but we sure gave those " Mini"s a run for the money !

the race motor was replaced by the 4 banger so his son could drive it, the race motor is still available seperatly.

My wife told me no many times...even after the puppy dog eyes...I've lost my edge

It's easier to bed for forgiveness than ask permission.
