After losing my beloved best friend last year my family's been on the lookout for a new 4 legged friend! We found a year old German Shepard mix and brought him home yesterday! He's awesome! Very playful and nice with kids and other animals, he's a big knucklehead and just what we were looking for! Here's my new best bud Reese

Who else has a mans best friend?

man makes me think of mine. we found a full blooded german shepard on the side of the road one day coming home from school when i was younger. she wasnt even a year old. almost backed over her to find her in the grass lol. it was the best dog ive ever owned. she knew what was going on at all times. loved kids. protected the house (and us). smart as hell. the only other dog we've had like her was a fully trained male lab who loved to drink beer. awesome, awesome dog he was.

anyway for a second i thought you might have been talking about northern lights or afghani :brows: :rotf: :rotf:

I had several dogs growing up three since I have been married and we lost one a few months back. This guy here is just a pure goof of a dog and the best personality one we have ever had. We recently got our dream house and huge yard which is now fenced in and it just seems empty with the two so we are looking for another.

This is our Goof,

And yes this is how he sleeps most of the time.

Many years ago a friend and I were talking (complaining) about women and I described my ideal woman. I said I was looking for someone who was first, loyal, always happy to see me, didn't care about my faults or past mistakes, would always be by my side, and number one - be someone I could have fun with everyday. He said, "Dude, you just described a freakin dog!"

So later, I went and got a dog instead!

I have 2 mini dachshunds. One is about 8 or 9 months, one is 6-7 weeks. One female, one male, half brother and sister actually. Same mom.

Bella and Freddie!

I lost my dog that I had for 15 years on March 13 of this year. :(

Have 1 Shepard/Chow mix [Rusty] and 2 dachshund/boston terrier mixes [Macy and Windy], and after Rusty passes I won't be getting another 'big' dog... I'll be sticking with bite-sized puppies from now on. So much easier.

I love this story.

A man and his dog are walking down a strange, unfamiliar road. He doesn't recognize anything and wonders what is going on. Finally he comes upon a big gate with a man sitting beside it and a fountain of sparkling clear water inside the gate. He approaches the man and asks him

"where am I"?

"You're dead" the man replies, "and this is heaven."

"I'm very thirsty and tired. May I come in and take a drink of water?"

"Certainly, replies the man, and welcome."

"May I bring my dog also?"

"sorry. We don't allow dogs. He'll have to stay outside."

He thinks a bit, looks at his dog and says, "thank you but I guess I'll pass."

He continues walking and soon he sees another large golden gate by the roadside. Upon approaching it he see's another man sitting by the gate and a fountain of water in the back ground. Approaching the man he asks him, "what is this place?"

" The man replies this is Heaven"

The man asks "I'm very thirsty. May I come in and take a drink?"

"Certainly, and welcome."

"How about my dog? He's also very thirsty."

"Your dog is very welcome. Please bring him in with you."

The man and dog enters and takes a long drink. Going back to the man at the gate he asks him. "did you know that here is another place down the road and they claim to be heaven also?"

"Yes, I know. That's really Hell."

"Doesn't it bother you that he's claiming to be Heaven?"

"No. Not at all. It helps us filter out those that don't belong in here."

How come there's no pup in the smilies?

A dog's request to God.

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog.

1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.

2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc. just because I like the way they smell.

3. The cat's litter box is not a cookie jar.

4. The sofa is not a ”face towel.”

5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.

6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.

7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello."

8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.

9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house—not after.

10. I will not come in from outside and immediately start dragging my butt.

11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.

12. The cat is not a squeaky toy so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.

P.S. Dear God: If I do all these things, when I get to Heaven may I have my testicles back?

We don't really know his age or the first part of his life story, but I do know we picked him up from the side of the road nearly dead and nobody claimed him. All I know is he has been the most loyal dog I have ever had and loves to cruise around town in my TJ with no top or doors.
