For those of you who are seeking donors or DDs-

It takes work, long hours of searching and several trips to kick the tires of dead dogs......persistence. Yeah it's a 98 SE but in excellent condition and all parts are here for a donor swap and upgrade. Seller had a no-start condition and was frustrated and refused to sink any time or money into it. I bought it for $1000 and paid $110 for towing and 60$ for a new starter. Main problem was NSS which cost nothing to repair.

Yes they can be found with God's blessing, persistence, and the art of negotiation.

Drive it around for a few weeks to make sure everything is working right. Fix what does not work right, then cut it up.

I would have that thing in a pile so fast it would make your head spin.

You can't drive a wrecked donor. You have no idea what problems you are going to have after you finish the swap. A driver makes the best donor.

flat black trim paint on that thing will make it look 20x better. Gonna cost you $10 and an 2 hours of your time to do, but it will be worth it.

That has to be the most pristine XJ I've ever seen.

Guessing you have not seen too many? Si?

I have never seen the newer style gauges with dummy lights, interesting

Standard issue on the SE. Along with manual door locks/windows, no roof rack and some other things I'm probably forgetting. I've always wanted an SE for simplicity, but any one that I've found for sale has been beaten worse than a red headed step child.

I would make that my DD! Fix the trim get a nice set of rims and tires and enjoy the 1k ride! Find something else to cut up.

Or if you insist on chopping it up, use the XJ as the base for making a 4dr Comanche! :brows:

:dunno: Not too many good looking ones that is. For the most part, they all looked like they've been through a war or two. Stains all over the inside, rips in all the seats, grungy dash, you name it, I've probably seen it. As far as looks go, this one is definitely the nicest, by far.

I don't know if it's just because it's FL, or what, but most of the XJ's here are in piss-poor condition; for $1000 down here, you won't be getting anything near as good as ismurphy's.

I had an SE with power windows/door locks, and tinted windows.....but no keyless entry in the overhead light(basic dome light not the full unit).

But it still had the basic guage cluster.

There were some oddly optioned SE's out there.
