Automan2164 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 With Angela's older brother renting a room out from my place, the fridge has become a bit, well, cramped. This gave me an excuse to put a project I wanted to do in the spot light. I've kinda been after a bar fridge for down by the bar in the basement. I had my heart set on one of those latch style huge bastards, but figured they'd be way too big, and a power monger. A mini fridge would be perfect, but not just any mini fridge... From the maker of this: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=26931 I present the Manche Fridge: Take one $25 mini fridge hot off Craigslist. Remove handles and Brand name. Sand, bang out big dents, and weld up holes. :D :brows: Ta Da! The emblems are magnets. And at home in the basement. Feels good to get another little project done. I don't have the money to paint/POR15 The Farmer at the moment, but this little tinkering keeps me going... Now I have a place for all my Beer! Rob
jimoshel Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 All yer beer? Must not be much of a beer drinker. Oh yes. Looks good.
HOrnbrod Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Nice but more better if you used a chrome door handle placed vertically under the lock cylinder? if's that's what it is.
btm24 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 That is one of the coolest things ever! Ranks right up there with the Comanche couch, Did you put magnets on the back of the emblems with some type of glue? Very cool Rob Brandon
glundblad Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I think it is time you admit you have a problem. :rotf:
500 MJ Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Nice but more better if you used a chrome door handle placed vertically under the lock cylinder? if's that's what it is. Chrome handle X2 Should have painted it a glossy bright color too IMHO Still serves your purpose either way I guess
Pete M Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 what about adding a piece of the rubber lower third trim that lots of MJs have?
SW86 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 looks good just the way it is to me. perfect style for a beer fridge. even makes me think 80s
89eliminator Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 what about adding a piece of the rubber lower third trim that lots of MJs have? this is a neat idea. i have a full set of trim off my Eliminator if you are interested, Rob.
Automan2164 Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 The only reason I didn't do a bright, flashy color was I wasn't sure how the general roughness of the fridge would turn out. I went with flat black to keep it simple. I have a set of metallic grey old style Eliminator decals I have from Neohic, they fit perfect on the sides... I also thought about stenciling the couch's Pioneer hockey sticks and duplicating them on the sides. I love the trim idea. Wade, I might take you up on the offer for the molding. Might I get that other thing you've been sitting on at the same time? You know what I mean. Don, yes, it would be a "Beer fridge" with the chrome handle, but that's too flashy for me. I like the old black worn one I pulled off the Farmer. That is a lock cylinder under the handle. For about 10 minutes, I actually thought about painting the inside black, and putting the black interior white checker on it, then I reminded myself that I am not that nuts. Now I just need to find something else to MJ-ize. Rob
whowey Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 The idea came out great. I understand trying to hide the roughness. But being flat black it almost looks like primer. A gloss color would be great, or the pioneer hockey sticks....The rubber trim would be awesome.

Might I get that other thing you've been sitting on at the same time? You know what I mean. you FINALLY want those metric ton leaf packs i have? but yeah, i do know what you are talking about...

You know what I mean. but yeah, i do know what you are talking about... OK - This is not cool. Might as well come clean and consider the secret out now Wade, we'll be hounding you until you decide to enlighten us. :peek:
Pete M Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 wait a sec... that's not an MJ fridge. where's the rust?
Sir Sam Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 wait a sec... that's not an MJ fridge. where's the rust? It's a colorado fridge.
jimoshel Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 wait a sec... that's not an MJ fridge. where's the rust? Pete. There are rust free autos, Jeeps included, in this world. However your doubt as well as the dis belief of others in CC has inspired me to enter into yet another business venture. Announcing the grand opening of "Jim's Rust Free Jeep Road side park and wild animal exhibit" featuring a rust free MJ as the center of the park surrounded by wild animals native to Colorado, caged of course. The animals will include Rattlesnakes, Elk, Deer, a Rhinoceros and a couple young ladies from downtown Denver. Entry fee will be $5.00 which will entitle you to one touch of the Jeep. Posing for pics beside the Jeep, free. Touching the rattlesnakes, free. Touching one of the young ladies from Denver $50.
Sir Sam Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Touching the rattlesnakes, free. Touching one of the young ladies from Denver $50. Uh, so you got those ladies on East Colfax huh? :ack:
