The Windsor Star reported that local suppliers and an industry research company have agreed that the “lifestyle pickup” Dakota replacement would be produced at Windsor, making it likely that past Allpar reports of the vehicle sharing basic dimensions and underbody with the minivans are on target. The article used the following photo from suzq044 at Allpar as an illustration.

The Star said that annual demand was projected at around 15,000 to 20,000 units per year; the truck would essentially be used to assure that Windsor could retain three shifts in the event of lower minivan demand. This would reduce pressure on Chrysler to provide rebates and other incentives; in the long run this would allow for more attractive lease rates as resale values rose. The truck is expected for the 2013 model year; its basic outlines were first discussed on Allpar in 2007.

:ack: That's not a truck. Sorry Chrysler, no sale. I guess I'm getting old( turn 5-0 next week), but I expect a truck to look like one. I also want to be able to haul crap in it and not worry about it. Looks too sissy-fied to me. Just my 2 cents.

Ive shunned the Dakota since Chrysler decided it had a better future than the Comanche.

anyway just think, that could be the new Comanche if they hadnt axed it in 1992? umn.gif :shake:

when you put it that way, i'm glad they didn't destroy the comanche name! but i still wouldn't drive something like that thing in the first post...

This is no surprise for anyone who was paying attention back in '06.

The Rampage concept was based on the yet-to-be-unveiled RT (07+ minivan) platform. Many of the features in the rampage are expected to make production, including:

- the folding bulkhead (ala Avalanche)

- stow-n-go rear seating for a flat load floor

- The three-position tailgate can be deployed upright, folded down 98 degrees, or dropped further to an angle of 117 degrees. In this position a stored-in-the-tailgate slide-out ramp can be extended to the ground to permit easy loading of wheeled cargo like motocross bikes, ATVs, etc.

- Hidden compartment under bed foor that can accomodate 4x8 sheets
