Paul Bruchal
I bought a M70 AK-47 for some protection. Reason why: I wanted something different other than a 12 gauge, and my friends house was broken into while he was home. He he heard his dog crying and got his 12 gauge and cocked the gun and the he guesses that the robbers heard that and ran away breaking thing as they left. And a few weeks ago the police called my house saying that there were 3 break ins in my neighborhood... What do you have for protection?
xjrev10
Congrads on the new toy.. But IMO a shotgun is going to be much better for a home invasion type of crime. I have heard the just running the action in a pump shotgun, will scare away a criminal. Also, if you need to first that AK at someone, the bullet is not going to stop anytime soon. High muzzle velocity, it could end up in you neighbors house. Couple things to think about.. I hunt whitetail deer every year with a AK-47. Works great, love the gun. jimoshel
Can't beat a shotgun. I have a 1911 .45 I keep handy but for home protection you just can't beat a shotgun. I've seen people high or drunk laugh at a rifle or pistol and dare you to shoot them. A shot gun has a mystique about them that will sober any drunk up and nobody wants to argue with them. camjeep3
The AK is an awesome platform, but like stated above you can't beat a shotgun. less chance of hurting someone in a nearby room/house, and a better chance of stopping whoever you are shooting at. Also like said above just pumping the gun will make most run, some won't and you will have to use your weapon. just some things to think about
SW86
sawed off. sure it might be illegal but the blast alone would scare someone a mile away. better yet just get a short barrel 12 gauge and throw a pistol grip on it (that might be illegal too). so pretty much just ignore everything i just said LOL. as for the AK, nice score! ive been looking at picking up a AR-15 but spend all my money on the Mj. i think my 9mm, 44, 20 gauge or 45 has me covered though. now,,,,,,post pics!! Automan2164
I would get a 12 Gauge for home protection for the intimidation, and the less likely chance of the bullet going through 3 houses... But I only have one gun, and thats the Mosin-Nagant M91-30. Its super accurate, simple, and a very nice unit. Rob

jeepcoma
I keep a 1911 .45, a round ball .45, and a .357 mag on my side of the bed, wife keeps the 16-ga semi-auto on hers. Oh and a gigantic flashlight, which is also a formidable weapon in the right hands (both from the blinding light and weight should I use it as a club). JeepcoMJ
I've had a mosin nagant m91/30, among other guns. but for home defense, I've got a remmy 570, and a walther p22. i know the p22 isjust a .22 cal, but it looks bigger and 10 rounds semi auto from a .22 is going to stop someone. that stays next to the bed, the gun cabinet is another 5 feet away. ejndssn
for the home the only thing that sounds menacing then a shot gun chambering a round is the second shot gun doing the same told the wife always have backup and since they think that there are two loonies with a shot gun they just might kill them selves on the way out if we don't beat them to it :brows:
shelbyluvv
I love this gun! I wish California laws would allow me to own one As long as you are not convicted of a serious crime, the gun can be bought in CA from a licensed dealer. It can't have a high capaicty magazine though. mj Mike
I love this gun! I wish California laws would allow me to own one As long as you are not convicted of a serious crime, the gun can be bought in CA from a licensed dealer. Glock 29sf 10mm auto fully automatic falls under CA's "Assault weapon" law: It is illegal to sell a firearm that the state has defined as an "assault weapon", and which has been listed in the DOJ roster of prohibited firearms, which includes many military look-alike semi-automatic rifles and .50 caliber BMG rifles. DOJ rostered firearms may be legally possessed if already registered with the state prior to January 2005. Military look-alike firearms that are not listed on the DOJ roster of prohibited firearms, known as "off list lowers", are legal to own and possess, as long as state laws concerning configuration are followed. It is illegal to import, sell, give, trade, or lend a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds of ammunition, except for fixed tubular magazines for lever-action rifles and .22 caliber rifles; however, the possession of such magazines is legal. It is illegal to possess an automatic firearm or a short-barreled shotgun or rifle without permission from the Department of Justice; such permission is generally not granted. codybutz
The Rem, 12 gauge 870 tact model holds 9 rounds with a 19" barrel direct from the factory. When loaded with a combo of 1 ounce slugs and 00 buck, your home will be very safe. not to mention a flat black tact shotgun just looks sweet.
