dasbrick Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 How much work would be needed to retrofit a Cherokee's Moonvisor to a Comanche?
neohic Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 If you're refuring to a sunvisor for above the windshield, then I would think they are the same. If not, let me know! I've got one you can have.
beaterjeep Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 It would be a bit of work to make fit, as the rooflines are different. The MJ has a higher roofline with more arch right at the front, whereas the XJ is flatter with less angle to it. It's feasible, yes, and might even fit without modding, but it will sit at a funny angle (downward more than normal).
64 Cheyenne Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Both "Moonvisors" that I have, I bought used. Don't recall either one of them being sold as XJ or MJ specific. Now you got me wondering. Just ran outside, put my "Moonvisor" on the MJ and then the XJ for comparison. Besides the XJ having stiffening ribs in the roof, which doesn't affect mounting, I'd have to say no difference. You'll have to take my word on this, I would have posted pics, but I don't have any way to hold the visor and take a pic. I'm here by myself. Neither mock up XJ or MJ, seemed to produce weird angles or would look improper after installation.
dasbrick Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 well apparently Lund doesnt even make em for comanches, but they did for the xj. so i guess i'll buy it and see if it fits.
64 Cheyenne Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Well if their not listed for an MJ, I really don't think you'll have any problems. You can see mine installed on my 88 as seen in it's build.
HOrnbrod Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Lund made two distinct visors with different part numbers for the XJ and MJ. The MJ visor is Lund p/n 19040; the XJ is 19030 and is stamped on the upper right corner of the visor. http://auto-trim.com/moonvisors.shtml Admin Edit: the part numbers were switched but now are accurate
Automan2164 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Lund made two distinct visors with different part numbers for the XJ and MJ. The MJ visor is Lund p/n 55433 and is stamped on the upper right corner of the visor. Man beat me to it, but yep. Although similar, def not the same. Got one in the attic. Rob L.
Geonovast Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Rob, is the one you got from me a Lund? I thought I'd seen MJ or Comanche on it somewhere.
dasbrick Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 Ok so they made a XJ and an MJ one. but the real question is if this is an XJ one, how much of a headache will it be to put it on an MJ?
HOrnbrod Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Do a search over on NAXJA. I remember someone put an MJ visor on an XJ so it might work. But the angle wasn't quite right - don't remember all the details.

87Manchee Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 The fit but they do sit at a wierd angle(down)... i have one that used to be on there.
Knucklehead97 Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 The fit but they do sit at a wierd angle(down)... i have one that used to be on there. this thread is 7 years old, sir :D
Dzimm Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Check out my build thread for many pictures of it. I tried it two different times and the second attempt was better.
WolverineCub Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Looking for one of these. I see the numbers a mixed up. Got one? Or the correct Lund #. I know it's and old thread but there must be one out there.

The correct Cherokee and Comanche part numbers are in post #8 of this thread: I found it by using the search function for "Lund Visor" here on the Comanche Club. Using Google search for "Comanche Lund Visor Part Number" will get you some pictures that may help you even more.

Skorpyo Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 According to Summit and 4wheelsupply 19030 is for the XJ: http://4wheelsupply.com/lund/visors/moon-visors-jeep.htm https://www.summitracing.com/parts/lnd-19030 For the MJ I've seen references to 19040 and AP3 as the part numbers, but none are from official sources (eBay etc)...
Dzimm Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 I have an XJ Lund visor I can confirm when I get home from Omaha on Sunday. By memory I think it is 19040 for the XJ.
WolverineCub Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 OK, Thanks. Does anyone have a Lund #19040 Sun Moon Visor for Sale?

Let me double check the part number before you buy one. My memory may be wrong. Wanna make sure you get the right one. If you happen upon a lighted MJ visor on your search, I'll trade you my lighted XJ one for it.
