dasbulliwagen Posted November 25, 2009 Share Posted November 25, 2009 Saw this at an antique store downtown and thought that it was funky enough that it would be cool to fix up for my daughter. $20 and it was mine. Needs to be sandblasted, and painted, and have the front tire replaced, and the rear wheel bushings fixed, but it shouldnt be any problem. Worked on it all last week to get it finished. I havent gotten many pics of it yet, but you can see from the before pics above, and the finished pics below, that theres a huge difference. Enjoy! dasbulliwagen Posted January 4, 2011 Author Share Posted January 4, 2011 I bought another one.... The wife and I are thinking maybe to fix up and donate to her companies fall charity auction. This one is kinda funky too. It was made by Hedstrom in August of 1977.... still has the original build sticker on it, and original seat upholstery, but the axle is bent, and the pedal arm is bent. Looks like one kid may have used it, and it was then stored. Bought it at another antique store while I was at Mazda training in Atlanta, GA. here's the before pics... hopefully it won't be a whole year before I have after pics! I measured the rims, and went to Tractor supply, and compared to the lawnmower and implement wheels they have and found a set that actually fit. I had to buy whole wheel /tire combos, but put them in a hot water bath to soften them up, and dismounted them from their wheels, and mounted them on the trike wheels. Takes a littel prying, but it works. Thanks for the comments! Hopefully the new one will turn out just as well. Though I'm not sure yet if Ill be staying stock with the wheels on the new one! I finally found the rear tires I wanted, so i brough it up to my wife, and she says " great, can you finish it in time for Griffins 2'nd birthday?" Griffin is my buddy's boy, and his birthday is 1 month away. So we will see if if I can get this thing fixed up and done in time. Ill take pics for you and update it as the process goes along.
