jtdesigns
Lostissues.. Nothing is ever hard to find if your capable of looking for it.. You'll never hear me say dang i can't find this or that,, well maybe you will if its brand new part.. The whole point is that this guy I'm SURE has loads and loads of info about Jeeps.. I do hope this guy makes me apologize,, really I do.. And I will if he's straight up and not here to profit out and be like poof; only checking in to bump his "for sale" thread. That is why this country is in the !!!#$% up state its in now.. I put alot of time into this site, made ALOT of d@Mn good friends on here. Logged many hours reading, laughing, crying, even throwing prayers for any of our "brethren",,, and believe me when I say I'm not the praying type,, that I feel its a big "up yours" when someone finds this site from a goggle search and thinks to themselves,, "H#!! look at all these FANATICS,, ching-ching  " This is a community of guys and gals with the same interests, and very eccentric interests at that, not craigslist, or ebay, or even jy's r us.. hate it, like it,,, its all goooood. Its free speech here last I heard.. Thats why my battle did come home with me.. I don't like stingy ppl. nuff said.
lostissues
I would understand where you were coming from if these people were peddling their wares that had nothing to do with the site. if someone wants to sell me pills to enlarge my manliness, or diet pills, or tries to hock a bunch of sham-wows on this site then by all means ban them because they are spammers trying to make money off of anyone. the people that pop on to sell their trucks or parts, I have no problem with. I would rather them target an audience that appreciates the trucks and the parts then someone that is just looking for any truck and would treat it as a truck and not as a Comanche. maybe they don't contribute to the community as a whole by sharing their knowledge but they could give members of the community a chance to purchase a Comanche, or the part they have been looking for to fix/improve their trucks. I just don't see how banning anyone that just wants to sell and item that is related to the interest of the members of this site if a viable way of running a forum. the thing is that YOU may not want something that these people are selling but someone on here may just want to buy that truck or those parts. maybe some people are not as capable of finding parts or trucks, it not like we all live near JeepcoMJ where they have Comanches growing in the fields :fs1: I'm not denying your 1st amendment rights I did not call out for Pete to ban you because I did not like what you were posting, all I'm saying is that just because you don't find these peoples contributions helpful doesn't mean that they are not providing resources that could help others. This is a community of guys and gals with the same interests, and very eccentric interests at that, not craigslist, or ebay, or even jy's r us.. how often do you see people link to craigslist or ebay? pretty often. now they skip they middle man and post on our site about OUR INTERESTS. if they poped on here and tried to sell us tires because they see we drive trucks, then yea that is a stretch. why get mad at people for finding and hitting up a target audience, thats the way selling stuff works. "I have crafts, I'm going to sell them at a craft fair" "I have some baseball cards I'm going to sell them at a baseball card show" "I have a Comanche/Comanche parts to sell I'm going to sell it at the Comanche Club" It just makes sense. BLHTAZ
I'm with JT... Anyone that just comes here to "use" the site to peddle their stuff, and does not contribute to the site content by communicating in the other forums, should not be here. You can not compare selling things at "craft fairs" (& such) to this site. Those type of places are designed for the specific purpose to bring people together to sell stuff. This site is designed to bring people together to share our love of the truck...AND...if it so happens that you have something to sell, there is a forum to do that. Just MHO ...
wolfpackjeeper
the other free sites I am on you have to have 30 posts minimum before you can sell stuff in the for sale forums. Post Whoring does not count, and even after 30 it is the Mods and Admins discretion as to if you are sincere or not.
jtdesigns
Joe Nathan, You have a good point, and I understand where your coming from. I just would like to see these people share their experiences while trying to sell some of this stuff. And another thing how many of these one timers even ask for a fair deal? Maybe I am wrong, but I see it as a insult to our community and to myself. And the links to Craigslist and others,, well I'll post the good deals every time I see one, and give a heads up on anything I find or spot if I feel its a fair deal. Esp this "Jeep Farm" guy you KNOW he has information that would help someone out, but he's not looking to help anyone out, just take their money. And I wish he makes me eat my words, but then I don't think so, he's done stated the best way to contact him is by giving him a call.. I might call him just see how much a set of taillights are.. It's not like his supply is low, and the demand is high.. I mean how many ppl in the world drive MJ's? These trucks arent that rare. I'll be glad to pick something up for someone, or direct them to a good source to find what their looking for,, Thats what being a unity is.. MrSimon
I think you could go back and forth forever on whether or not people should be allowed to just jump in an post classifieds for MJ stuff or not. But, in the end, it comes down to what are the forum rules. If the rules allow them to post classifieds without being an active member ..... then there is no point complaining. I suppose you could express your opinions to Pete, I'm sure he'll listen and weigh your concerns .... but this ain't a democracy - its ultimately his decision. IMO - if somebody posts a proper add with legitimate MJ related stuff for sale ..... GREAT! It benefits everyone on both sides of the transaction. If its just spam - delete it and move on. Pete M
Nothing was deleted. I just moved them out of the thread to clean it up. JT, I totally understand your concerns, but the fact remains that I can't force someone to care about MJs, their owners, or this site. I could theoretically force them to post up 25 or 30 posts, but that won't make them care. An example: right now I've got a pair of Bronco axles I want to liquidate (need the money more than I need the 4.88 gears) and the cast wedge design pretty much narrows my potential buying pool to a select few. So I go to a Bronco website that I've been on before back when I owned a 78 Bronco, and my lack of "recent" activity means I have to start from scratch trying to find posts in the tech section that I've got answers too. I gotta tell ya, I don't know a whole lot about the old Broncos, and all the easy questions that I might have answers to are already answered. I don't own a Bronco anymore. It's long gone. Just a memory and a title hanging on the wall. I have no desire to buy another. And it just gets me angry me as I spend my time trying to find productive responses when all I want to to pass the axles on to someone who needs them. If you want to encourage someone to interact with the group, how about sending them a friendly PM? Maybe asking them a question or something? I seriously doubt that someone who wasn't inclined to join our conversations before, is suddenly going to be all gung-ho to share their MJ knowledge after someone rips them a new one in a public venue. :dunno:

87Warrior
Gah, I got a call from him last night. Come to think of it, I need to return that call today. ;) I am looking for a 91/92 Fuel pump/float assembly. In his message he stated that he might have one unit from a 91 out there. mfpdm
I hate to disagree with you Pete, but my post to the classified threat is no longer under this thread or under my profile. :dunno: Here's a personal example of someone just signing up to sell his Comanche parts on this forum. I'll leave names out to protect the users. I had responded to a classified on here by someone that I knew was not a regular and was just trying to sell parts. It was for the hard to find black interior Comanche specific parts so I took the chance. I pm the guy and so did someone else on this forum. Told him what I was looking for and what I would pay. His reply back was that it was to low and he had been offered much more by the other member. I said fine, go ahead and sell it to him. The other member had then PM'd me asking if I had got the same story he got from the guy, which was yes. Turns out he was playing us against each other to only MAKE MONEY. I then got several pm's from the seller after I already turn down the parts, still trying to score the sell. So, I get a little peaved when I see this kind of thing. Not so much when its a seller trying to just sell his whole truck, but when it's someone that makes his living doing nothing but getting the best price on his inventory. Like I said before, if a member says he treated them good than my opinion may change or if he'd post a price list so there's no guessing about his intentions on playing us as a honey pot. I would think since he does appear to be in the used parts business, a sample price list would be easy to come up with.
Pete M
Whoops. Yours wasn't supposed to leave. I've now moved it back. JeepcoMJ
bottom line guys.... our trucks are rare. parts are hard to come by. a good bed is a good bed, and I need a couple of them. if someone wants to come peddle parts, as long as they're honest (i.e. not playing the interested parties for more $$$), then why are you complaining? if you ban folks like that, we miss out on parts that would have otherwise been lost to the bonyard years ago. the goal of this site is comanche improvement, or at least maintenance. to do that requires parts that may or may not be shared with cherokees. but unlike cherokees, we can't find our parts in any junkyard we go to...we gotta look, scavange, and sometimes take it up the butt on cost to get to where we want to be. that said, I'm willing to deal with 1 post wonders, because they may have just that thing I was looking for at a really good deal. I suggest though, that we have a new "rule" reguarding classifieds.... if you're interested in the part from someone like this, and you send a pm, post "pm sent" in the thread. that way, if someone pulls what they were pulling on mfpdm, and someone has their suspicions of that happening, you can contact each other, call the person out on it, and at least someone should (theoretically) be able to get the scammer to come to a decent deal. will that work? This is what JT and I have been seeing, this is what JT has been posting about the past couple months, and this is not the first time some "player" has come on board to sell his Rare '89 Sportruck, color red, like I don't have 3 of them now :shake: for $7,000 to some one that show interest in this Rare MJ. I seen the reply asking if the guy had some $300 tail lites, and got a good laugh over that one :rotf: The first thing I thought of when I seen the post.......some junk yard found the site  If the guys legit........prove it, post on the pub, show us your collection, post pictures on the classified add and prove it......other wise, on one or two post and then the add he put up.......with no pictures..........if it's canceled and deleted......fine. I know not every one can post pictures, or know how, but if he's selling all these parts, lets see some pictures of the products, not just a phone number, and no prices :shake: He could be the guy that thinks a pair of tail lites is really worth $300 :rotf:
Pete M
At least the $300 taillight type of people are entertaining. :D My thing is that the junkyard guy simply hadn't followed the rules yet and JT jumped down his throat. That was unnecessary. Need a bit more patience next time.
WahooSteeler
Been sitting back to watch other responses come in before I posted my BNO ("buffalo nickel opinion = worthless). And as rare as it is for me to sit back and watch vs. jumping right in, I actually agree with young Patrick's comments (similar to some others). I think these situations take care of themselves, especially on a smaller tight-knit group site like this one. Point being, if it smells like a rat, it's probably a rat. And almost everyone will stay away from a stinky rat. Either people are going to respond with requests to his posts (likely IMO), or not. If they don't, it'll go away. If they do, then I'm confident that everyone here but Chico ( ) is smart enough to proceed with caution, i.e. notice that he's a new member with 4 posts and that his offer fits the tried and true "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is", meaning he's got 15 MJs to part. If they get a price on something and don't know if it's a good deal, they'll probably post up here and ask if it is. Of course anything that costs more than $5 is too much to most of you guys LOL, so like I said before, it will just go away. Seriously though, how many guys have you seen on here that don't have the luxury of a pick-n-pull nearby and either have to deal with a retail price salvage yard or car-part.com or similar? Point being, I agree that if there is a source out there with a quantity of parts, specific to our somewhat unique vehicle, why run them off because he doesn't want to interact?? What's a matter JT, did he give you some outrageous quote on this un-findable part you need from the Millenium Falcon for your wipers or whatever it was? :shake: *If you would like the Cliff's Notes to this post, please see Mr. Simon's comments. :brows:
