Don't you just hate those type of threads that just keep repeating the same old things we just talk about last week. I tell you what I'm getting sick of it. :clapping: It's time for a new post.

what's the cheapest way to lift an mj 2"?
TNT replied to brdhntr's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yep. with the new tires, one's planned already. i thought i'd get things done and do a 4 wheel on it (rather, have it done). 4 wheel? Nothing in the rear is adjustable alignment-wise. A 4 wheel alignment checks thrust angle which can be adjusted a slight bit(by shifting one side of the axle back and the other forward). They also use the thrust angle so they can properly adjust the drag link. -
When I work on UCA bolts I use black tape to hold the socket on a 6" extension. :brows: If I lose that there is a problem. A steep hill works good to get a socket rolling.

Those Hummer H-1 double beadlocks pictures are DOT approved. The 8 bolt ones can use bias ply tires and the 12 bolt ones can use either bias ply or radial tires.

That sound like a backlash issue, but pinion bearings are a possibility too. If you put the truck up on jackstands in 2wd and the front tires blocked you can probably pin point it. Use a mechanics stethescope or short piece of broom handle held tight to your ear you can pin point the noise by listening to the different locations on the axle while somebody elsedrives it tryng to duplicate the sound. This will let you check the pinion bearings easily. If you pull the cover you can chech backlash then also.

You can still get military Goodyear bias 36" tires and radial old style 37" MT's for a good price. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=692850 Check the link. I just got an email from him about the radials. He is getting in a load of radial 37" MT's with 95-100% tread in about a week. 75.00 per tire.

Where/how did you cut your carpet? Got any Picts? :typing: Under the center console and around the seat base on each side the 3rd piece is behind the seat. The interior is stripped for the upcoming extended cab and for welding in huge front wheelwells, a rollcage and rockrails/boatsides.
-
First find out where the water leak is and fix it. I'm not a fan of anything but rust preventive paint for the floors since rust can start and you can't see it. I have a console so my carpet is cut in 3 pieces so I can just pull it out when its muddy or to inspect the floor.

XJ's that are 97 and newer had plastic tanks. Steel tanks where used thru '96 on XJ's.

I will be using my 94 XJ tilt steering column with the double sided key. I will also be using the door lock cylinders and the glove box door with the matching key. It will be keyed alike. I beleive JeepcoMJ used the double sided door lock cylinders with the 95 XJ airbag steering column in his short box MJ. I'm not sure if he swapped the glove box lock or not. I think he did. He also has factory R134 AC that I think he will be getting charged soon.

In Wisconsin a junkyard without a dealer resale license has to send in the title as salvage within 30 days of recieving it and can sell it but it can never be titled again. If they have a dealer resale license they still have to send the title in but can repair the car and sell it with a salvage title after it passes a tough State Patrol inspection. The must provide vin numbers and reciepts for all the parts that were used on the car. The car must be hauled to a vehicle inspection location(not driven). After that they will issue a salvage title so it can be resold.

hey now! how'd you read my mind while i was typing? Great minds think alike? I would go with a '92-'95 Honda Prelude Image Not Found

About 15 psi is max on that turbo. That would put you over 200hp & 250# of torque probably at the wheels. Find out what the kit consisted of because you don't want to go lean. That would increase the fun factor. You could probably walk 5.0 Mustangs and such.
-
So hows the power on that boxy sedan??? You shold be able to get more boost out of the turbo. 1 psi increase = about 10hp.

Volvo nuts... I could see being nuts about a BMW M3. So I take it you are planning to have kids and the Volvo's a station wagon. :rotf: Whens the wedding???

They look out of place. The rims are just too big. I would probably like them with some 15"-16" rotors using some big calipers. I would the drop the front about 2" the rear 3"-4", find or make some ground effects and replace the rear bumper with a roll pan. I would also bob the box about 12" and lose the red stripe. Then it would look better.
