  1. Well, I spent time with the family for this Thanksgiving and as always, the women folk make the plans to hit the stores on Black Friday. They set off at 3:30 am this morning and all I had to say was don't wake me up when you leave. All in all, they said most stores were crowded, but not as crowded as years before. Now to the off-topic portion of the thread, In a thread some time back I mentioned to Motion that he needed to answer the questions and not just link to his site. Not saying this was the cause but after that he began giving good information and advise prior to promoting what he had to offer. I see no problem with that and he is one of the few that Market to the MJ crowd. He's never said buy my stuff, it's the best price on the market. Just that he has it availible. Now, to do a little role reversal here. How many of you, if you owned a Offroad site, would throw plugs for it when you could? Or any kind of business for that fact. Heck, how many of us have answered a post about something and said, "oh by the way, I have one for sale in the classifieds if your interested." I'm not defending or promoting but come on. Lighten up. It's the Holidays.

    POR 15 Question

:agree: I love the Chassis Coat. Brushes on and looks great on the frame. Plus its tough and provides some of the same protection as POR 15.
  3. OOOOO, a Big Ton. :clapping: What normally happens to get it in that position, is that it's been put on a lift sometime in it's life and the mechanic didn't pay attention when bringing it back down. The link to the diff cover should be pointing up with the flat bar almost horizontal and pointing to the passenger side.

    POR 15 Question

POR 15 won't let go. The spray in bedliner may but if he prepares it right, as you said, he should be good. I'm thinking he may be talking about the floorpan and not the bed. But that's just me assuming. Yeah I know don't believe everything you read but my personnal experience, it's the toughest finish I've seen.

    POR 15 Question

Yes. You can paint pretty much anything over POR 15. I used roll out bedliner over it with no problems. Just need to scuff it up a little. I believe their website has all the info that you would need.
  6. What track bar are you running on your TJ? RE adjustable. It is almost, if not all the way in. Same with the rear. I have the 3.5 RE coils which are more like 4in actual lift.
  7. I don't think the relocation bracket will help here. If I remember correctly, it only raises the attaching point not side to side. I could be wrong so hopefully someelse will chime in. I know some have just drilled a new hole in the stock one but that comes with down points as well. The sway bar links you can fab up if you don't want quick disconnects by having a new rod or cutting and adding the right length and welding it back together. Control arm bushings are not to tuff but if you get impatient, you can destroy the control arm. They sell new control arms with the bushings for not much more then the bushings themselves. I think I saw them at Quadratech.
  8. I can't find the thread, but Motion Offroad had a well writen guide for using a DPA. If I remember right, unless your 7 inches(of lift :D ) or better, you shouldn't need it. Maybe he'll chime in. I've got 4.5 and do not plan on using one and the TJ is about 4in and doesn't have one.
  9. Sounds like a good plan. Hopefully this build will be back on the road by then. Virginians are starting to multiple on here. I think we're up to about a dozen or so. 4 or 5 right here in the Hampton Roads area, another 4-5 in your area, and a couple sprinkled elsewhere. Would make a good crowd to take on an outing. Or, as you suggested, drink beer and tell lies. :D Thanks. My patience is starting to run a little thin on it. Can't seem to make any progress and when I try, one thing leads to another and it seems I take a step backwards. :wall:
  10. Was surprised to see it snow here last friday. It's the first time that I can remember it snowing in Hampton Roads during Nov. Hope it's not a sign of things to come for this winter.
  11. This is awesome. Just think of what else they have tucked away in some unmarked building. I hate to think what they will do if they go under. Instead of selling them off I could see them crushing them just so no one else can have claim to them.
  12. Nah, going to hold on to them for awhile. One for each truck. That listing pic looked very familiar. Here's the post from JU of the guy that has them. Click Here Also, here's the old thread on these from here. Click Here
  13. I've got 2. :D
  14. Well I can't believe this one hasn't been said yet.... My dream job would be to own a all Jeep junk yard and be able to piece together Jeeps all day long. :D
  15. That was my thinking when I ordered from them. I read all the negatives and thought I'd be one of the lucky ones. As I said they are stout and the welds look good. Just can't understand why they would not keep the production within a standard for a quality product. When I ordered them off Ebay, they listed 88 availible, but after a month when I called, they said they had to make them and it would be another week. They next day they called back and said that they mail them. Then once I got them they were missing hardware. Called them back and they told me they would overnight the hardware to me. After 10 more days I got the missing stuff. After all that, I left them neutral feedback, which should have been negative, and they responded that they shipped them long before I said and that I was impatient. :shake:
  16. It chatters at high rpms. Yeah I thought at first it was the throwout bearing which is what I think you were thinking if it did it when I pushed in the clutch. Was also considering that the lifters may need to be adjusted but why would it sound so good at idle and low load? :dunno:
  17. It's about time you started posting. :D Just ribbing ya. If your making your TJ a trail rig only, you should pull the dash and all and adapt it to the MJ. I know the 97+ XJ conversion has been done, but I don't think anyone has successfully done the TJ conversion yet. I could be wrong. Anyhow, that way you don't have to worry about trying to wire the gauge cluster in the MJ to match the electronics from the TJ. It would take some work but it would make a unique MJ with the DD dependability that your looking for. And if that idea killed the plans for you coming over and getting some parts, forget I mentioned it. :D
  18. I have them. The design is good and they seem to be pretty well built however the quality control could be better. I had to do some tweaking to get them on. Here's a link to the page on my build. Click Here Now to what I feel is really important. It took forever to get them and their customer service sucked. They lied to me then tried to say I was just a impatient customer. I got them off Ebay. I complain to Ebay for their business practices and shortly there after, they changed their user ID from rockyroadoutfitters to rockyroadoutfitters_4x4. Which by doing this, they escaped their fast declining seller rating. I can't tell you how they handle yet, but as soon as I get the build back on the road, I'll do a through review. I can send you a PM with a lot of links about the company or you can google them and find them on your own. If I did it again, I would go with REs drop brackets and fab up the brace.
  19. Was also thinking of using the 97+ as well. Those of you that have, did you notice any problems with door alignment or harder closing? If so did you make any ajustments? I don't want to put undo binding or pressure on the know weak hinge design.
  20. X2 :agree: Sorry to :hijack: but mine does just the opposite. Idles and runs great under no or low load but when you rev it up or when you reach the upper rpm before shifting it chatters. I thought maybe it was the lifters. Could this be the chain also?

    Gas prices

Just passed the 7/11 and it was $1.79
  22. The only thing that truck is missing is my VA tags on it. Man that is Bad@ss. Would like to see bigger pics to drool over. Be nice if it had the eagle on the hood too.
  23. I can't believe you don't have BIG ENUS as a choice. Then you could put LIL ENUS on the misses. :D I guess they might get transposed wrong and an A added.
  24. How hot does the header get? Was just wondering because I had a conversation the other day with a guy about the same thing. He's planning on getting his Stangs headers powder coated. I know my bumpers were powder coated which baked them at 400-500 degrees. Does the header get hotter than that? :dunno:
  25. You lucky dog. :nanner: I always hope to find one each time I hit the JY but no such luck.........Yet.
