Nope. If the timing chain breaks (it won't) or slips the only thing that will happen is the motor will stall. Bet it's a fun job getting the timing right after that happens.

I've done a few before. I've actually got quite a few that I haven't ever opened but I've always wondered if a Comanche/J truck kit could possibly exist. Now you've done it, I'm gonna have to clean out a spot now. :P

Yeah if you had the 4.0 you had to have power steering. I'd rather not have the extra workout - driving home after arms day with my P/S is enough of an 'extra workout'.

All said, if you have the means and the knowhow to do it it would probably be a good idea. Keep in mind though that even though the Renix 4.0 lasted 3 years they still made a lot of them so parts probably won't be a huge issue for a long time. HO is a more powerful engine with less annoying stuff that can cause issues though so you may want it just for that.

Yes. Hornbrod also has chrome plating on 90% of the exterior surfaces on his truck that can be chromed. The paint is also silver. That give you an idea?

And what brand/weight oil are you using? Check all of your manifold bolts for a loose one. Loose bolts can make some pretty scary noises (like the end-of-the-world knocking characteristic of a loose flexplate bolt).
